Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission, and Culture (Fully Accredited as a Postgraduate University by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission of the Ministry of Education) has one open job for an Archival Assistant.
The Objective of the position
Under the direction of the Archival Officer, the Archival Assistant will help develop, promote, and run the Archive & Rare Book Section on a daily basis. This is to make sure that the Akrofi-Christaller community (students, faculty, and staff) and a wide range of external users and partners have access to useful resources and information.
Important Roles and Duties
- Help with projects like archive processing, digitizing, and cataloging when needed.
- Help the Archival Officer clean papers, evaluate, add, sort, package, list, label, box, and find archival materials
- Help enter information into the ACI Archival Management System.
- Answer a wide range of questions from researchers, depositors, supporters, guests, staff, and students (in person, by phone, email, mail, Facebook, or WhatsApp).
- Help with keeping records and putting together manuscripts.
- Any other tasks that may come up from time to time, as shared with the Archival Officer and the Librarian and agreed upon.
Needed Qualifications and Experience
Job Requirements
- An adult Christian with morals and a sense of duty who is committed to the Institute’s mission, goals, and vision.
- Must have a Diploma in Library Studies from a reputable university and at least two years of work in the field. It will be helpful to have a second degree in Information Studies.
- Must be able to lift and move boxes of paper.
- Can’t be allergic to dust.
