The goal of the UCD Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholars program is to develop ability and promote excellence. With 60 students currently enrolled, the program has a history of success in a wide range of sports, such as athletics, badminton, camogie, cycling, football, GAA, hockey, hurley, karate, modern pentathlon, rugby, soccer, sailing, swimming, and table tennis.

Scholarship Requirement

To be eligible for the University College Dublin (UCD) Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholarship, you must:

Interested students

• Must be high school seniors who will be starting college at UCD in September 2024.
  exhibited outstanding physical skills in the sport they chose.
• Strong academic record: 6 H1s in the Leaving Certificate, 4 A*s at A-level, or an International Baccalaureate score that is equal (contact UCD Admissions to find out what the similar score is).

Currently enrolled at UCD

• At least a 3.68 total GPA.
• Getting 60 graded ECTS credits and meeting the standards for moving on in the program.
• Nomination by their own UCD academic area based on how well they do in school.

How to Apply for the Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholarship at University College Dublin (UCD):

There are three steps to apply for the UCD Ad Astra Elite Sports Scholars program:

Send in your application.

• Apply online by filling out the form on the UCD Ad Astra Academy website.
• Write an interesting personal statement that explains your goals and ambitions.
• In a committed statement, list all of your athletic accomplishments.
• Show proof of your academic and sports achievements.

Interviews and shortlisting

• They carefully look over applications, judging them on academic merit and the quality of your comments.
• Those who made the short list will be asked to come in for an interview.

Get scholarship offers

• Up to sixteen very good applicants will each get a grant.
• Successful applicants must agree to take a course at UCD and follow the rules of the grant.
