What are the reasons to pursue education in Japan?

Japan is consistently expanding its international presence as its companies vigorously compete worldwide, resulting in promising employment opportunities for graduates. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Japan is comparatively more cost-effective than in several other G7 countries, and there are numerous scholarship options accessible. Consequently, an increasing number of students are prompted to inquire, “Should I pursue my studies in Japan?”

1. Japan possesses a superior standard of education.

Japan is internationally recognized for its exceptional education system and holds the highest ranking among OECD countries in terms of reading literacy, math, and sciences. The typical student in Japan achieves a score of 529, which is significantly higher than the OECD average of 486. The percentage of Japanese persons aged 25-64 who have successfully finished upper secondary school is 94.6%, which is higher than the average of 78% among OECD countries.

Japanese universities are subject to regulation by the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MEXT), ensuring that degrees obtained from these universities are internationally recognized. Opting to pursue higher education in a Japanese university guarantees you a top-notch academic experience.

2. Exceptional job prospects for international pupils

Japan boasts the third largest economy globally and serves as the headquarters for numerous renowned multinational corporations in the technology, automotive, and manufacturing industries.

Given the global presence of Japanese corporations, possessing proficiency in the Japanese language and understanding their corporate culture can greatly enhance your prospects for future job opportunities, both within Japan and internationally. Japan is well recognized to be experiencing demographic difficulties due to its declining and rapidly aging population. This is generating significant job prospects for international students who complete their studies at Japanese universities.

3. Cost-effective education costs and ample scholarships

At numerous Japanese colleges, overseas students are charged the same tuition prices as Japanese domestic students, which contributes to Japan being a comparatively more economical choice than several other G7 nations. The Japanese government assists with international education through the JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) and MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology) scholarships.

Furthermore, several universities offer their own academic merit scholarships that are available for application. At iCLA, we offer four levels of academic merit scholarships. These scholarships provide a four-year exemption from 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of your tuition, facility, and equipment fees. Applying for a scholarship at iCLA is a straightforward process that involves submitting an additional essay along with your application to iCLA.
