The HEC Commonwealth Scholarship for 2020 is available for anyone pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. degree. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan nominates the students chosen for the UK Scholarship. - The stipend, or living allowance, is £1,084 per month, or £1,330 per month (at 2018–2019 prices), for students attending universities in the London metropolitan area.
- Provision for thermal clothing, if necessary
- If applicable, a thesis grant is provided to help cover the expenses associated with the preparation of a thesis or dissertation.
- A grant to support the costs of academic travel, whether inside the United Kingdom or abroad.
- You are eligible for a free trip to your home country for the midterm visit, unless you have already received a return airfare for fieldwork or have claimed or plan to claim spousal and/or child allowances during your scholarship period.

Requirements for eligibility:
- Must hold Pakistani or AJ&K citizenship and have permanent resident status.
- Applicants must be 30 years old or younger for master’s degrees and 35 years old or younger for doctorates at the time of application.
- Ensure your availability to commence your academic studies in the United Kingdom at the onset of the academic year, specifically in September/October 2020.
- Applicants for the Master Scholarship must have a first-class degree in the relevant field of study that is fully finished in all respects by the application deadline. This degree must be at the graduate level, requiring a minimum of 16 years of education, such as an MSC/MA/MBA/BS/BBA.
- Ph.D. Scholarship: Candidates must have a first-class degree in the relevant field of study, which must be fully completed in all respects, by the application deadline. The required degree must be in the form of a Master of Science (MS) or Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and it should have been completed within the last 17 to 18 years.
- The applicant should not have obtained a Ph.D., MPhil, or Masters degree from a UK university prior to September/October 2019, and they should not have previously pursued studies at the same level in the UK.
- Experience financial limitations that prevent one from being able to afford to attend college in the United Kingdom.
