4Ward Development is a well-established safe water company (SWE) with commercial subsidiaries in Ghana and Uganda that provide district-wide safe water services. Our mission is to consistently exceed rural clients’ expectations by providing an assured supply of high-quality water. Access Development, an organization with a decade of expertise providing safe water to 600,000+ people through 2,000 water stations across Africa, launched 4Ward Development. During this time, Access Development pioneered an innovative water system called NUMA, which was supported by Water4, our non-profit partner and owner. Access Development, as well as 4Ward Development West and East Africa, are for-profit subsidiaries of Water4, Inc.

The 4WardWA suite of water solutions, which includes hand pumps with professional administration, public retail outlets, and private water connections for residences, schools, clinics, and businesses, is designed to supply clean water customized to consumer demand.

4WardWA now operates in the Wassa East district of Ghana’s Western region, where we have delivered safe water to the entire district as well as other villages in the Komenda, Edna-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal. This is done in collaboration with Water4, the Dutch Government (RVO), the Hilton Foundation, the Wassa East District Assembly, and many other organizations. 4WardWA will expand its operations in the Upper West and Savanna Regions in 2022 in collaboration with Water4, Helmsley Trust Foundation, and Global Communities, with more partners to come, as part of our aim to bring safe water services to three districts in these regions.

Position Description

The Sales and Distribution Officer will report to the Product Manager, Northern Operations.

The Sales & Distribution Officer (SDO) will be in charge of controlling the distribution of goods or products from the manufacturer to customers or outlets, reporting to the Product Manager. S/he will plan and execute delivery schedules, manage warehouse and transportation, oversee distribution operations, handle sales channels, and find sales and expansion prospects.

The SDO will also undertake market research and analysis to assess trends, brand awareness, and competitive ventures. The incumbent will manage day-to-day interactions with customers and other stakeholders, as well as collaborate with the Facility Maintenance Officer on other Product Department duties.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and create marketing strategies and promotions.
  • Conduct research and data analysis to discover and define target audiences.
  • Create and offer ideas and tactics for management to consider.
  • Collect and distribute feedback from customers or prospects to internal teams.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle, from negotiating/closing deals to effectively and efficiently managing complaints or objections.
  • Increase the breadth and depth of distribution in the targeted sales territory.
  • Create distribution/delivery route maps and schedules for assigned territory.
  • Make packaged water items visible and easily accessible in the given territory.
  • Increase client loyalty and retention by providing innovative, customer-focused, and value-added solutions based on mutual benefit principles.
  • Upsell other products and use secondary placements to expand into new markets and merchants.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of all client proposals and presentations.
  • Create weekly and monthly reports, as well as maintain the client database.
  • Attain both monthly and weekly goals.

Required Qualifications or Experience

Education

A diploma in marketing, supply chain, business management, logistics, and operations, or a related discipline, is required.

Experience

  • It is necessary to have at least two years of experience in a channel sales/supply chain-related function.
  • The ideal candidate must have an entrepreneur’s MINDSET.

Working Environment

  • Physical Demands – Up to 8 hours a day of sitting, standing, and/or walking. The total number of working hours in a week is 40. If work is done in the evenings and on weekends, the SDO will be rewarded with equal time off.

Location: This job is located in Wa, Upper West Ghana.
