Role Title: Category Manager – Oral Care, Ghana

Main Job Purpose

  • Manage and grow the Oral Care category through category-driven activation, renovation of the current core portfolio, and brilliant implementation of New Products Distribution (NPD) platforms.
  • Achieve category share and profitable Net Proceeds of Sales (NPS)/profit growth goals by turning category and marketing plans into plans for putting them into action on the market and for customers (with the possibility of tailoring activities).
  • Champion the needs of the customer and the passion of the category within the business as a whole.
  • Promote competitive behavior and a competitive mindset throughout the business and turn it into targeted marketing activities to grow market share in a category.
  • Give feedback on innovation platform projects and brand planning based on what you know about the market and your customers. This will make sure that the needs of brands will be met in the future.
  • Lead how these platforms are used in the market and come up with a world-class activation mix.

Job Summary:

The main responsibilities of this job are:

  • Develop a marketing and category plan that focuses on growing market share and takes advantage of opportunities in product redesign, pricing strategy, competitor actions, customer/channel (e.g., convenience format, discounter) needs, etc.
  • Represent product (insights), category strategy, and quality requirements on the cross-functional discounter team.
  • Working with communication teams and agencies for Public Relations (PR) and Below The Line (BTL) for the category, develop and lead the implementation of activation platforms and ideas based on the category vision plan.
  • Translate the marketing and category plan into a business framework and identify threats and ways to maximize business opportunities.
  • Help with planning on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
  • Develop and implement a 12–18-month portfolio roadmap that includes product range and quality, building a brand, delivering value to consumers, pricing, and affordability, and expanding the range of products.
  • Feed market, category, and customer needs into platform innovation projects in a proactive way.
  • Champion is the best way to get the innovation platform out there.
  • Work with the communication team to make sure that a single message is made that fits the needs of the category and is in line with the category-building communication plan.
  • Check how well the innovation and renovation program is working to help plan for the future.
  • Once innovation platforms are up and running, make sure they continue to get attention and support.

Key Experience & Requirements

  • A minimum of seven to ten years of experience in marketing and/or category management in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment is required.
  • If you have experience with Business Management and Category Development, that will be a plus.
