Underground Safety Officer at Westfield Limited
Main Purpose ( Role)
- Always manage SAFETY compliance.
- Make sure your safety and the safety of others, equipment, and the working surroundings.
- Take part in Mine Inspectors’ inspections and inquiries.
- Help make sure that the PPE is of good quality.
- Making sure workers know how to use PPEs correctly.
- Help make sure that all the legal requirements that have to do with health and safety at work are met.
- Work with little guidance.
- Work at night and on the weekends.
Responsibilities (Key Performance Areas)
- Help find and fix dangerous ways of doing things at work.
- Help with planned inspections and checks by using a checklist every so often.
- Help do planned job observations on a regular basis.
- Help with an official risk estimate.
- Help with training staff on the job from time to time.
- Keeping a well-planned work schedule.
- Help the repair team when it’s needed.
- Updating safety records every day, every week, and every month.
- Helping the Driller when the business is open.
Formal Qualification Required
- BSC in Environmental, Health, and Safety
- A HND degree or higher from a well-known school.
- NEBOSH certificate
- Certificates and recommendations linked to the job are needed.
- Must know how to be a good boss.
- Must have a current (B or better) driver’s license.
- They can’t have a bad past.
- You must be healthy enough to work.
- Good speaking skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Certificate of Competency for Mincom HSE/H&S/S Officers
Experience Required
Proven experience working in an underground mining environment
