UK GREAT Scholarships: Sheffield Hallam University Scholarship 2024

The British Council launched the GREAT Scholarships campaign in partnership with 72 institutions in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to assist postgraduate students from particular countries in accessing top-notch UK higher education opportunities. The GREAT Scholarships program is part of this campaign.

In collaboration with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Sheffield Hallam University is pleased to offer four GREAT Scholarships: three general and one dedicated to justice and law.

Concerning this chance

The general GREAT scholarships are currently only available to students with good academic records who are residents of India, Pakistan, or Thailand and who will be enrolled full-time in a postgraduate course beginning in September 2024.

The GREAT Scholarships for Justice and Law are only open to Nigerian citizens who will be enrolled in one of the following full-time postgraduate teaching courses beginning in September:

• MA Applied Human Rights
• LLM: Applied Human Rights
• MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice
• LLM Legal Professional Practice

Excellent academic success will be taken into consideration for students.

What you might get

The £10,000 tuition fee waiver for a full-time postgraduate taught degree will be given to scholarship awardees over the academic year.

Who is eligible to apply?

To qualify for any of the GREAT Scholarships, you need to fulfill the following requirements:

• Be an international fee-paying student who covers all of the costs of their education on their own, without assistance from the government, another scholarship provider, business, or workplace.
• have completed your undergraduate honors degree with a minimum grade of 2.1 or its equivalent.
• Fulfill the prerequisites for your selected course in terms of academic admission and English language skills.
• be able to cover the remaining balance of your tuition as well as any other costs—like field trips—that your course may impose.

Depending on the kind of scholarship you’re applying for, you must also fulfill the following requirements:

Regarding the overall GREAT Scholarships, you must:

• possess a residence in Thailand, Pakistan, or India. There is one scholarship available for every one of these nations.
• have submitted your application to attend Sheffield Hallam University’s full-time taught postgraduate program beginning in September 2024.

To be eligible for the GREAT Scholarships in Law and Justice, you must:

• be a Nigerian resident; one scholarship is reserved for applicants from Nigeria.
• have applied to enroll in one of the following postgraduate taught full-time programs at Sheffield Hallam University, commencing in September 2024:

• MA Applied Human Rights
• LLM: Applied Human Rights
• MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice
• LLM Legal Professional Practice

This scholarship is not available for application or receipt if you:

• are enrolled in the Sheffield Hallam University degree for which you are submitting a scholarship application already.
• possess a GREAT or GREAT Justice & Law scholarship from the past.
• intend to enroll in a Sheffield Hallam course at a partner university located outside of the United Kingdom.

Conditions and terms

• We reserve the right to only evaluate scholarship candidates who have agreed to accept an offer to enroll in a course of study. It is highly recommended that applicants accept their offer of a spot in the course by the scholarship deadline.
• Scholarships are selective, with candidates being chosen solely based on the data they submit on the online application.
• Before the scholarship deadline, you must be able to provide a transcript or certificate that shows your final grade (with percentage, GPA, and CGPA) as proof of the degree of academic success you indicated on your scholarship application.
• Your eight-digit Student Identifier (SI) number is a requirement for the online scholarship application. The university gives this to you after processing your course application. We reserve the right to only evaluate scholarship applicants who include this number on their application.
• Scholarships are given out as a way to lower tuition costs. There isn’t a financial substitute available.
• Scholarships cannot be postponed or transferred to a different start date.
• For every course of study, a single financial incentive (scholarship, prize, bursary, or discount) may be used. If you qualify for multiple forms of financial incentives, the offer with the highest value will be accepted.
• Each academic year, the scholarship offer is subject to change as the university reviews and changes it.
• The university retains the final say over all determinations regarding scholarship eligibility and awards.
• We don’t provide individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.
• Before you can enroll, you need to fulfill the admission requirements listed in your offer letter.
• Even if you receive a scholarship, you must still pay the enrollment fee and any applicable deposits to proceed.
