Tullow Oil is a well-known independent oil and gas business with a concentration on Africa and South America. Over 70 exploration and production licenses are held by the Group across 15 countries.

Tullow Oil is seeking a Senior EHS Advisor in Ghana. This employment is based in Takoradi full-time and on a permanent basis. To guarantee safe and sustainable operations, the individual will provide EHS leadership, oversight, support, and assurance for all projects and activities within the Takoradi operational sites.

Responsibilities

The following are the responsibilities of the successful candidate:

  • Support and involve Logistics Base management and department heads on a regular basis in accomplishing safety objectives and managing EHS at Takoradi operational sites.
  • Ensure the implementation and adherence of business policies and the EHS Management system by providing expert EHS advice, leadership, and direction.
  • Liaise with appropriate departments to plan and establish a comprehensive EHS assurance and verification activities calendar, including monitoring, auditing, and performance evaluation.
  • Lead, organize, and/or participate in Takoradi incident investigations and take preventative measures.
  • Also, Ensure that EHS risks are recognized, reported, reviewed, and updated on a regular basis and that controls are effective.
  • Assess and lead the development/review of necessary EHS procedures on a regular basis, ensuring conformance/compliance with Tullow policies, standards, and procedures.
  • To improve continuous improvement, ensure that necessary training and awareness requirements are identified and properly delivered.
  • Then, Maintain a high level of personal expertise with all Tullow EHS processes, particularly those pertaining to onshore and offshore logistics and subsea activities.
  • Develop partnerships within Contractor and Subcontractor organizations to ensure that well-defined EHS targets and metrics are established, communicated, reported, evaluated, and performance managed.

Skills

  • Capable of leading and influencing EHS at all levels
  • EHS enthusiasm and promotion of EHS ideals and Tullow behaviors
  • Organizational and coordination abilities – the capacity to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Adaptable in rapidly changing circumstances, and outcomes are achieved through a pragmatic and constructive approach.
  • A high degree of coaching and training experience that will be critical in building our workforce (i.e. verifiable training experience)
  • Knowledge of technical EHS and commitment to high EHS standards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a motivating attitude and the ability to work effectively with varied teams at all levels, both internally and externally, are required.
  • Personal integrity that is second to none
  • MS Office proficiency is required.
  • Excellent report-writing abilities
  • Planner, goal-setter, people-person, and self-starter.

Experience and Education

  • NEBOSH general certificate or above (international diploma), or equivalent certification, or tertiary level qualification in engineering, science, or EHS-related topic preferred
  • ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 certified Lead Auditor / Certified Internal Auditor
  • Extensive experience in oil and gas, subsea, and logistics
  • Proven EHS management expertise in Logistics, Subsea, Projects, and Construction.
