Role Title: Nutrition Specialist
Job Description
Tebihi Ghana is looking for a Nutrition Specialist. The ideal applicant would provide technical help and support in the implementation and management of nutrition initiatives aimed at women of reproductive age and children under the age of five.
He or she will be in charge of developing a holistic approach to achieving optimal nutrition in communities. To fulfill the project’s goals, objectives, and targets, a combination of nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific interventions will be used. The ideal candidate would collaborate with relevant stakeholders to improve community quality.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Program management, monitoring, and outcomes delivery
- Establish monitoring benchmarks, performance indicators, and measurements with the Project Coordinator and external partners to assess and increase performance, accountability, coherence, and delivery of concrete and sustainable results for the assigned sector in nutrition programs.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation exercises to measure progress and identify what actions and interventions are needed to accomplish results.
- Prepare and evaluate monitoring and evaluation reports to identify project management gaps, strengths, and/or shortcomings. Identify and apply lessons learned for development planning and timely action to meet goals.
- To measure progress, actively monitor operations through field visits, surveys, and/or information sharing with partners and stakeholders. To keep management, donors, and partners informed of project progress, prepare frequent and obligatory project reports.
Networking and partnership formation
- Establish and maintain effective close working partnerships with nutrition sector government colleagues through active information and knowledge sharing.
- Moreover, Facilitate activity implementation and strengthen stakeholder capacity in order to meet project goals for mother and child nutrition, family planning promotion, and child safety.
Support for program implementation on a technical and operational level
- Give technical advice and operational support to the project team and government partners on the execution of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive community interventions.
- Also, Participate in community dialogues to promote nutrition, family planning, and child protection issues.
Capacity building, knowledge management, and innovation
- Apply and adopt innovative techniques and best practices to strengthen the ability of partners and stakeholders, as well as to aid in the execution and delivery of concrete and long-term program results.
- Then, Maintain current knowledge, conduct research, benchmark, and apply best and cutting-edge practices in nutrition management and information systems. Best practices and knowledge gained should be evaluated, institutionalized, and shared.
- Lastly, Organize and carry out capacity-building initiatives to improve stakeholders’ abilities to promote nutrition-related project activities.
Required Qualifications or Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Community Nutrition is required. MPH in Nutrition or MSc/MPhil in Public Health Nutrition are preferred.
- A minimum of five years of professional work experience in the planning, programming, and implementation of Health and Nutrition programs is required.
- Understanding of the Northern Ghanaian background, particularly the Upper East region and the Bawku area.
- Working experience on a donor-funded project is preferred.
- Ability to operate well in a team of persons with varied technical backgrounds and levels of technical training.
- Strong initiative and self-motivation are necessary, as well as a dedication to teamwork and effectiveness in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary project.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as analytical, interpersonal, and team management abilities.
- Capability to devote one’s full attention to a project.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Presentation, is required.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
