Taiwan Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) for International Students

The Ministry of Education is happy to provide scholarships for Huayu courses at a registered Mandarin Language Center that has received MOE approval. Foreign students can apply for scholarships (with the exception of students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao SAR).

The Ministry of Education’s main responsibility is to convey policies, create a platform for the gathering of resources, and propose extremely practical and forward-thinking government policies that will result in observable improvements in educational outcomes.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

• Course Level: Scholarships give recipients the chance to learn more about Taiwanese society and culture while also fostering interactions and understanding between Taiwan and the rest of the world.
• Scholarships are available to take Huayu classes at a registered Mandarin Language Center that has received MOE approval.
• Award: Scholarships will come with a 25,000 NTD monthly stipend.
• Scholarships are available in the People’s Republic of China (Taiwan)

WHO MAY APPLY?

• Nationality: Foreign students may apply for scholarships (with the exception of students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao SAR).

In order to be eligible to apply for this scholarship, candidates must fulfill each of the requirements listed below:-

• Foreign applicants who are at least 18 years old, have completed high school, have demonstrated strong academic achievement, and are of good moral character are eligible.

Applicants who meet one of the following requirements are not eligible to apply:

• A Chinese student studying abroad or a member of the R.O.C.
• Is enrolled as a student at a Mandarin Language Center right now, or has applied for admission to a Taiwanese institution or college.
• Has previously been awarded a Taiwan Scholarship or a HES.
• Is a scholarship recipient of an exchange student in Taiwan at the time
• Is presently receiving financial aid from the government of Taiwan or another academic institution.

APPLICATIONS PROCESS FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP

How To APPLY:

Applications must be postmarked. Send a completed application and any necessary documentation to the Education Division, TECO-NY, by March 31, 2023, with postmarks.

Supporting Information:

The following documents, in addition to the scholarship application, must be submitted by the applicant:-

• a form of application (see appendix 1; provided by local embassies or missions).
• a copy of the applicant’s passport or any other document that can confirm the applicant’s nationality.
• a photocopy of the transcript and certificate for the highest qualification.
• a copy of the Mandarin Language Center apps.
• additional records needed by regional posts or embassies.

Criteria for Entry:

• Foreign applicants who are at least 18 years old, have completed high school, have demonstrated strong academic achievement, and are of good moral character are eligible.

Language and test requirements in English:

• Students from English-speaking nations can take free English language tests.
• IELTS 5.5, the TOEFL 550, or passing the university entrance exam
