Value of the Scholarship
Master’s stipend value is $17,500; doctoral stipend value is $21,000. To be eligible for the grant, students need to have a Canadian address and bank account.
Tuition and Fees: To assist with fees, domestic students will get an additional $7,100, while international students will receive an additional $10,000. The money will go straight toward the tuition and fee accounts of the students.
Eligibility
- January 2024, May 2024, July 2024, and September 2024 are the qualifying entry terms.
- Must be a newly admitted student in a master’s or Ph.D. program during one of the aforementioned terms.
- Available to both native and foreign students
- Available to students pursuing courses or theses
- You must have a 3.7 or better admissions GPA.
- Throughout the grant, full-time enrollment is required.
- Regardless of the student’s admission term, this award’s tenure is from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2025.
Steps for Making Applications
Applications for this grant are not accepted from prospective students or students who have just been admitted to a graduate school. The only students who can be considered are those who have been admitted under one of the terms of admission specified under Eligibility, and their admitting department must nominate them to GPS. For details on their internal selection procedure, prospective and recently admitted students should get in touch with their admissions department. The department can also help with the application for the admissions process.
On GPS’s website under Prospective Students, you can find comprehensive guidelines for applying to admissions, information on tuition and living expenses, information about international academic credentials, and, if relevant, details about English Language Proficiency (ELP).
Processes for Nominations
By April 15, 2024, departments must submit qualified nominations to GPS through the GSMS Awards Portal. For comprehensive submission guidelines and requirements, consult the 2024 Entrance Department Nomination Memo.
The Procedures for Adjudication
After checking the nominations for eligibility and completeness, GPS sends them to the Graduate Scholarship Committee for consideration and ultimate selection. GPS will be in direct contact with the recipients.
Closing Date
Monday, April 15, 2024, is the deadline for departments to submit nominations through the GSMS Awards Portal.
