Senior Field Associate at UNHCR

The (Senior) Field Officer or Head of Office is usually in charge of the Senior Field Associate, who does a variety of tasks connected to Field activities in the office. General work goals are set by the boss, and the person in charge does the work on their own. The boss keeps an eye on the work to make sure it gets done as planned and follows policies and procedures. Most of the time, the Senior Field Associate is in charge of a few General Service support workers.

The person in charge keeps in touch with other staff members in the same duty station often to share information, find out what each person needs, make sure services are provided, and solve problems. They also keep in touch with officials from national and international institutions, leaders of the refugee community, local people, and/or Implementing Partners (IPs) about issues that may be important to the Organization.

All employees of the UNHCR are expected to do their jobs as described in their job descriptions. They do this within the limits of the powers they have been given and in accordance with the UNHCR’s regulatory framework, which includes the UN Charter, the UN Staff Regulations and Rules, the UNHCR’s Policies and Administrative Instructions, and related accountability frameworks. Staff members are also expected to do their jobs in a way that is in line with the UNHCR’s core ideals of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity, as well as its core, functional, cross-functional, and managerial competencies.
