AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited’s Obuasi Gold Mine is almost done with the redevelopment phase, which will make it more modern, efficient, and long-term profitability. The underground mining operation is fully automated and is set up to mine an average of 5,000 t of ore per day.

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Project Planner to join our hardworking team.

WHO, WHAT, WHY, AND WHERE

To help the senior project planner with planning and scheduling tasks, such as developing schedules, analyzing schedule risks, planning for different scenarios, and reporting on project progress. Help get the AGA project planning and schedule control process up and running, as well as all project planning deliverables.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Follow the rules for AGAG Environmental Management, compliance, and other laws.
• Do something to stop the pollution of the environment.
• Follow the operating procedures and rules about the environment for the job you were given.
• Correct any environmental problems they see or tell their boss about them. They can also make suggestions to improve any part of environmental management.
• Assess the risks of each task and make sure they are kept in check before and while the task is being done.
• Report all problems and make sure they have been looked into and that the right steps have been taken on time.
• Do all the corrective actions that have been given to you or that fall under your responsibility, and make sure they are done on time.
• Give the project planning information to the Project Controls Plan and make sure that all project functions are in sync (e.g., Schedule – Cost interface at the project level).
• Make sure that the AGA planning and scheduling requirements and standards are understood and followed.
• Help keep the project master schedule up-to-date and make sure a clear process for controlling the schedule is in place.
• Use the updated WBS structure for the project in question.
• Define the schedule details for each discipline and make a list of the key deliverables for each discipline.
• Help keep track of the overall project schedule, including activity logic and resources, and make sure the critical path is clear. Update the schedule according to the project reporting cycle.
• Help with the project risk management process by figuring out the most important risks and constraints in the project schedule and making “what-if” scenarios.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification

• Degree from an accredited college or university in engineering.
• Having a certificate in project management would be a plus.

Experience

• At least 2–4 years of experience in Project Controls, with at least 3 years in a Project Planning and Scheduling role on mining projects.
• Shown experience and understanding of project management principles, as well as a high level of planning knowledge.
• Shown that they are good at using planning software like Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.

Technical skills

• Engineering and planning for building projects.
• Shown experience and understanding of project management principles, as well as a high level of planning knowledge.
• Knowing how to use planning tools and systems, like modeling risks and possible outcomes.
• Know how to plan and control the project, as well as how to measure progress, keep track of changes, and report on the project.

Some other skills

• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a place where things move quickly.
