We have implemented initiatives in the areas of climate change adaptation and social development, food security, poverty alleviation, nutrition, gender equality, social integration, tuberculosis (TB) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) awareness campaigns, reproductive health, and family planning programs. We have successfully conducted six projects in 42 districts and 12 regions of Ghana. These projects have had a positive impact on over 100,000 households, particularly the poor and vulnerable. Our activities have benefited a variety of groups, including women, children, youth, and people with disabilities who live in both rural and urban locations.

Job Description.

The Project Officer is responsible for the project’s effective management, including administration chores and the distribution of reports to both internal and external stakeholders as needed. The Project Officer will work closely with the Project Coordinator and Nutrition Specialist to help the Pemcoa management team and partners with the planning, implementation, assessment, and documentation of the Nurturing Women and Children’s Nutrition at Sustainable Scales Project. The role comprises supporting in the development of successful programmatic interventions, monitoring programs, producing reports, and advising partner organisations and local populations in the Nadowli-Kaleo district.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other technical team members to find opportunities for further improving stakeholders and community services to promote the use of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive services.
  • Manage modifications to the project scope, timeline, and costs in accordance with Pemcoa and donor rules and policies.
  • Maintain necessary project papers to track project progress, including filing all project activity reports in an appropriate database.
  • In order to design, implement, and assess nutrition activities and interventions, work closely with the Project Coordinator, Nutrition Specialist, and social and behavior change communication (SBCC) team.
  • Collaborate with the M&E team to assess performance against predetermined metrics and identify best practices.
  • Support technical approaches to scale up nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive services that leverage in-district or community expertise to ensure service sustainability.
  • Encourage the creation of training programmes in project communities.
  • Provide reports, documentation, and proposals as asked.
  • Support the creation of technical resource documents, such as guidelines, training manuals, and curricula, as needed.
  • Support donor reporting quarterly and annually.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director, Nutrition Specialist, or Project Coordinator.

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in development studies, social policy, public health, economics, or another relevant area with a minimum of two years of experience in a similar job.
  • Familiarity with project cycle management methodologies and tools, including participatory planning, monitoring and assessment of projects.
  • Significant experience with learning approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building and management.
  • Capability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data and create reports.
  • Excellent communication abilities, including reporting to various project stakeholders.
  • The ability to integrate technical information into practical counsel and tools and successfully communicate them via print, electronic, and presentation media.

Desirable

  • Strong initiative and self-motivation are necessary, as is a dedication to teamwork and effectiveness in a dynamic multidisciplinary project.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and team management abilities.
  • Excellent English writing and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to write for a variety of audiences and purposes, including exceptional presentation abilities.
  • Ability to operate efficiently independently and outside traditional office settings, if needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizing abilities are necessary.

Mandatory

  • Familiarity with the local surroundings, particularly the Nadowli-Kaleo district and its residents, is quite useful.
  • It is vital to be fluent in the Nadowli-Kaleo District’s local language.
  • Residence in the district is required for this employment.
