Newmont’s Africa Operations operates two gold mines in Ghana: the Ahafo Mine in the Brong-Ahafo area and the Akyem Mine in the Eastern region. Ghana is also focusing on near-mine exploration and development to replace gold reserves on an annual basis. In addition, Newmont Africa has early-stage exploration programs in Ethiopia and Morocco.

Newmont Mining Corporation is seeking to recruit qualified, experienced, and motivated individuals for the following positions:
1. Social Responsibility Specialist
Formal Education (including Professional Registration):
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Social Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Public Relations, Communications, Social Risk Management, Anthropology, or a related discipline is required.
Additional Knowledge
- Language proficiency in the local Ahafo community where the mining takes place.
- Strong understanding of Ahafo culture and habits.
Class C driver’s license. - Pre-existing relationships or a network in the community where the company operates can be a beneficial resource.
Experience:
- 5 years of relevant experience in Community Relations, Community Development, Social Performance, Public Affairs, or Stakeholder Engagement is required.
- A minimum of three years of supervising experience is required.
- Experience in the mining industry is really valuable.
2. Land Management Officer
Formal Education (including Professional Registration):
- A bachelor’s degree in geography, land economics, natural resource management, social science, or a related field is required.
Additional Knowledge:
Understanding of local norms and traditions
Working knowledge of the Minerals and Mining Act 2006 (Act 703) and all enactments dealing with Ghana Stool Lands is advantageous where applicable to NGGL.
Experience:
a minimum of three years experience in a similar job, as well as three years experience in Land Access-related activities, specifically stakeholder engagement, community education, and public participation
3. Community Relations Officer
Formal Education (including Professional Registration):
- A bachelor’s degree in social science or a similar discipline is required.
Additional Knowledge:
- Excellent knowledge of local culture and habits.
- Competence in conflict resolution.
- A Driver’s License B is a bonus.
Experience:
- A minimum of three years of experience working in community relations in mining or comparable industrial operations contexts is required.
