Position Description:
The Customer Engineer (CE) is responsible for the customer incidents that have been assigned to them.
The Customer Engineer will do minor repairs and replacements on Tier I equipment such as PCs, workstations and peripherals, printers, front-end POS systems, ATMs and kiosks, and single pocket-proof encoders. Moreover, The Customer Engineer will also assist with site preparation, which includes cable installation, equipment staging, and minor equipment testing.
The Customer Engineer may also perform essential modular swaps and unit replacements, as well as provide preventative maintenance services. The client Engineer addresses all client concerns or problems, either resolving them or elevating them to the appropriate associate, team member, territory manager, or Control Tower. Also, The Customer Engineer will be in charge of any customer problems or incidents until they are handled to the customer’s satisfaction and/or within the limitations of the agreed-upon Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Education & Experience
- An ordinary-level diploma or equivalent from a reputable institution in electrical, electronics, or computer technology is preferred. A solid O-level grade will play an important role in the final decision. Training Acceptable advanced training may include one year of college-level coursework, equivalent military training, or instruction in electronics or computer technology.
- One year of electronics or computer instruction at a reputable trade school, including both theory and in-class hands-on experience.
- A+ certification experience is preferred. Age under 30 years
- Prior experience as an electronics bench or rework technician is preferable, but not needed.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Customer relations/customer satisfaction
- Establish working relationships with customers and create informal contact channels with customer accounts at the local level (i.e. branch, store, or office).
- Responsible for taking ownership of all client issues/needs that are raised or seen, and acting appropriately.
- Understands and follows the various customer Service Level Agreement (SLA) criteria, elevating or escalating issues as needed and/or under established procedures.
- Communicates with all levels, including Service/Installation Coordinator, Customer, and Control Tower, throughout the service activity.
- Represents NCR in a way that positively impacts the company’s image and reputation.
Customer Services Assists or provides the following client services:
- Installs and configures hardware, modifies hardware, performs first-line maintenance, and multi-vendor maintenance
- Conducts periodic preventative maintenance on assigned products.
- Diagnoses issues, perform minor repairs, and replaces parts (at the module level). Follows proper security standards when working with ATMs or within financial institutions.
Equipment staging and installation.
- Contributes to site preparation and equipment installation as part of a team effort. May install limited modifications or Field Retrofit Orders (FROs).
- Completes all necessary modular swaps and unit replacements. Asset Management
- Responsible for all NCR assets that will be used in the delivery of client services (i.e. tools, software, vehicles, paperwork, and intellectual property), or as allocated by management.
- Maintain an acceptable parts inventory and parts record keeping.
Reporting
- Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of calls and activity, as well as other reporting as required.
- Responsible for tracking and reporting all expenses incurred in the delivery of services, including telephone, private automobile, and/or public transportation.
- Responsible for capturing detailed customer asset information and other data required to complete any invoicing or billing activities. Requirements / Environment Job requirements
- Must have a valid driving license and pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, overtime, flex shifts, and on-call shifts
The Work Environment
- To service accounts within a certain area and may be deployed daily on a call-by-call basis or build his/her daily schedule based on automated reports.
- Works on-site at the customer’s location, in local NCR offices, or remotely.
Physical Environment
- Prolonged travel may be required, as well as carrying and lifting a tool kit/parts of varied weights (1–50 lbs.).
- Extended periods of bending, crouching, walking, standing, or sitting may be necessary.
- Exposure to enclosed spaces, dust, drafts, and damp areas
- Assuming cramped/unusual positions, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, bending, crouching, and squatting
- Functioning under stress and engaging in interpersonal relationships (high workload, potentially dissatisfied clients)
