One of Georgia’s top public universities, Middle Georgia State University (MGA), is dedicated to providing excellent academic programs and building a friendly, supportive community.
Over 8,000 students are enrolled at MGA, the best-value state university in the University System of Georgia, with campuses in Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, Warner Robins, and online.
In addition to a few associate’s degrees and certificates focused on careers, the university provides over 65 academic programs and degrees at the Ph.D., master’s, and bachelor’s levels. At the vanguard of aviation education, MGA is home to Georgia’s premier aviation school.
Maintaining a dedication to quality, MGA is still a center for creativity and academic success. The campuses of Macon, Cochran, and Eastman offer lodging for students.
At this time, MGA Athletics is looking into joining the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division II. With 180 student-athletes participating in 10 sports now offered, the university intends to add women’s track (long distance only) in the upcoming years.
The combination of Middle Georgia College, located in Cochran, Georgia, with Macon State College, located in Macon, Georgia, produced what is now known as MGA. Given that Macon State College was established in 1968 and Middle Georgia College in 1884, MGA offers a distinctive blend of classic and modern approaches to higher education. It is recommended that applicants apply as early as possible for the semester in which they intend to enroll. An application must be received at least thirty days before the start of the semester for which admission is being sought to be considered for admission.
Potential Foreign Students
We are thrilled that you have chosen to attend Middle Georgia State University (MGA) to continue your education! Our Cochran campus is conveniently located two hours away from both the Atlanta airport and the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, while our main campus in Macon, Georgia, is conveniently located approximately one hour away from the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Since MGA has among the lowest tuition costs in the country, students from all over the world prefer to attend our university since it is the most economical four-year institution in the state of Georgia. You have the option of living in Macon or Cochran on one of our two main residential campuses, where you will receive a stimulating and excellent education.

Admission requirements
Traditional freshman
A typical freshman is a person with zero to twenty-nine transferable college credits who completed high school during the last five years.
- The minimum GPA required for high school is 2.0
- English proficiency: Applicants who do not speak English as their first language and who have never attended a U.S. higher education institution must provide documentation of their English proficiency using one of these methods.
Non-traditional freshman
Someone who completed high school more than five years ago and has between zero and twenty-nine transferable college credits is considered a non-traditional freshman.
- Equivalent to US high school diploma
- English proficiency: Applicants who do not speak English as their first language and who have never attended a U.S. higher education institution must provide documentation of their English proficiency using one of these methods.
Transfer students
Regardless of when they graduated from high school, a person who has completed 30 or more transferable college credits is considered a transfer student.
- a cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) of 2.0 or above for all work attempted
- English proficiency: Applicants who do not speak English as their first language and who have never attended a U.S. higher education institution must provide documentation of their English proficiency using one of these methods.
How To Apply?
- Fill out the online application; until April 1, 2024, the $30 application fee will be waived.
- Official Transcripts Need to Be Delivered Straight To The Admissions Office
- Transcripts from foreign post-secondary and high school education must be sent to an International Credentials Evaluation Service for a course-by-course assessment that includes GPA.
- Next, the service provider’s official evaluation document should be transmitted straight to the Middle Georgia State University Admissions Office using the following method:

Check the status of your application. To check your status, you will need to use your MGA ID. The email you received from MGA acknowledging receipt of your application contains this number.
- Please provide your birthdate.
- Enter the Social Security number associated with your MGA ID (983 #).
- Avoid entering a postal code.
