Mechanical Supervisor at Perseus Mining Limited
Perseus Mining Limited is a gold miner and explorer that is listed in both Australia and Toronto. Its main focus is on the West African region. The world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana has been turned on by Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL). The Edikan processing facility was designed to handle 5.5Mtpa, but with a few plant upgrades in 2016, it was able to handle up to 7.2Mtpa. The plant could make between 180,000 and 220,000 ounces of gold each year.
Purpose of Role:
The person who gets the job will be in charge of maintaining the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and making sure that all scheduled and emergency maintenance is done in a timely and cost-efficient way. Also, the successful applicant will make sure that maintenance plans, performance maintenance planning, scheduling, and reporting stick to the standards that have already been set.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make sure all employees and contractors working in the department are safe by promoting a culture of continuous improvement toward a real safety mindset and attitude among employees, identifying and getting rid of hazards, enforcing all safety rules, and making SOPs;
- Make sure that all safety, environment, quality, maintenance, and manufacturing standards and programs are followed in your area of responsibility;
- Take steps to improve production methods, the performance of equipment, and the quality of products; Take care of the department’s budget;
- Maintain and manage the department’s equipment filling system, which includes mechanical drawings, vendor manuals, information on changes, and change documents;
- Schedule and assign preventive and predictive maintenance, such as working with hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmissions, welding, fabrication, vibration analysis, balancing, alignment, oil analysis, and non-destructive testing (NDT);
- Manage the people on the team and be in charge of things like training,
- Supervise the building and installation of new equipment; Manage employee performance and make decisions about who to hire;
- Do regular inventory activities, such as tools and store stuff;
- Work with other departments to help the plant reach its goals
- Do any other tasks that are related
Skills and qualifications:
- BSc. or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent;
- Process Plant Mechanical experience of at least five (5) years.
- Ability to read manuals from vendors and figure out how parts and equipment work;
- Certification in Maintenance Management and Reliability Techniques;
- Familiarity with Pronto, Microsoft Office,
- MS Project, etc.; Certification in hydraulics is important for finding problems.
- Must have a valid Ghanaian driver’s license.
