POSITION: Manager on Duty
During the evening shift, the property manager on duty oversees all property activities. Ensures that the highest standards of hospitality and service are met during the overnight shift. Represents property management in resolving guest or property-related issues. Personal assistance in resolving challenges and accomplishing tasks.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Education & Experience
- High school graduation or GED; 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a similar professional field. OR
- 2-year degree from an authorized university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related subject; and 2-year experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related professional field.
Core work activities
Monitoring Property Operations.
- Monitors and assures compliance with all operational guidelines.
- Ensures that all staff wear suitable uniforms and are properly groomed.
- Ensures staff operate in a safe environment.
- Manages all period-ending inventories.
Supporting Profitability and Revenue Goals.
- Financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data are reviewed to assess productivity and target achievement, as well as to identify areas for cost savings and program enhancement.
- Assists with the reaction and resolution of all visitor issues received directly from guests or through visitor Relations.
- Assists accounts receivable clerk with all parts of the work, including keeping all invoices due under 60 days.
- Ensures that the supervisor is researching and processing all chargebacks and rebates in a timely way.
- Implements strategies and measures to keep chargebacks and refunds to a minimal.
- Ensures that all staff follow proper cash handling processes and monitors overages and shortages.
- Manages employees’ hours.
- Works with the property’s executive team to identify and implement action plans to prevent recurring guest issues.
Supporting Human Resource Activities
- Encourages involvement in property safety-related programs.
- Monitors employee attendance and keeps track of absences and tardiness.
- Encourages teamwork and employee morale.
- Updates personnel on new operating methods, standards, or programs.
- Assists supervisors with employee performance issues (such as performance reviews, coaching, and suggestions).
- Ensures that all personnel are well aware of emergency procedures.
- Encourages employee relations with gifts, parties, and outings.
- Creates incentives to encourage greater service and profitability for the property.
- Assists the operations manager in processing employee payroll weekly.
