Lincoln Community School is one of the best American International Schools in Africa. It has about 600 kids who come from more than 60 different countries.
Job Description
The school wants to hire a Maker’s Space Assistant who will work with the MakersSpace Coordinator, ES STEAM teachers, and MS/HS Design teachers to set up and run a collaborative, respectful space that can be used in different ways by all of the school’s stakeholders (students, staff, and parents). In this setting, everyone’s voice and knowledge are valued so that kids can learn more academically and socially/emotionally.
Duties and Obligations
- Work with teachers who want to use MakersSpace by helping them get ready and decide where to put resources.
- Students are expected to take part in all class events.
- Help people of all ages use MakerSpace’s tools, equipment, materials, and software. Give users one-on-one teaching and training on how to use MakerSpace resources.
- Help make sure that the Makers Space is organized and scheduled in a way that is fair and equal for everyone.
- Get the word out that MakersSpace could be a place for everyone in the neighborhood.
- Ability to talk to everyone in the community in a good way.
Skills or Experience Needed
- Any kind of degree is fine, but one in one of the STEM fields is best.
- Experience in design or other related areas, like robotics, computer design, or carpentry, is preferred.
Experience and Skills
- Both oral and written speaking skills are very good.
- Well-equipped with technical design skills and practical skills, like how to use tools for wood and electricity.
- Having worked with kids before is a plus.
- Shown that they know how to make samples or models.
- Quickly able to learn new things.
- Having used the Google suite.
