Job Title: Intern, Programs

The goal of Worldreader is to get kids to read so they can reach their full potential. Since it started in 2010, Worldreader has helped more than 21 million people around the world, including people living in places where there is a crisis or conflict. This is a great chance to be a part of a global team that helps children who need it most to learn to read.

Overview

The Programs Intern will help make sure that all of our projects and programs in Ghana are running smoothly and are coordinated. In this role, you will work closely with the Programs Manager and the rest of the team to make sure that programs run smoothly, keep accurate records, and help with activities related to programs. You will also help the local programs team come up with ideas for campaigns to get more people to read so we can reach our goal of 25 million readers by 2025.

Scope of Work

  • Help plan and coordinate program activities, making sure they stick to established work plans, deadlines, and goals.
  • Help the Programs Manager come up with and put into action program strategies and projects
  • Help keep program documentation, such as program documents and reports, accurate and up-to-date.
  • Help track the progress of the program, identify risks and problems, and suggest solutions.
  • Work with the Programs Manager to make materials for the program, like presentations, reports, and communication tools.
  • Help organize program-related meetings, workshops, and events, including scheduling, logistics, and paperwork
  • Do research on important topics and trends to help develop and improve programs.
  • Work with your team to evaluate the results of the program, get feedback, and find ways to make it better.

Timeframe

Worldreader wants a Programs Intern to work 10-15 hours a week for up to 4 months. This is an internship that doesn’t pay.

Deliverable

At a date set closer to the end of the internship, a final report or presentation of the projects will be given to an internal Worldreader committee.

Qualifications

  • Must live in Ghana and be a first-year student at a recognized university there. Must be studying Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related subject.
  • Commitment to how long the internship will last
  • Strong interest in program management and a desire to help children in a positive way
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to put things in the right order.
  • Ability to use productivity tools well, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to say things clearly and briefly.
  • Ability to work from a distance and as part of a team, as well as to build good working relationships
  • Ability to take the lead and come up with creative solutions to problems.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to handle changing priorities and tasks with flexibility and adaptability.
