Job Title: Senior Consultant
Job Overview
Responsible for making sure that projects or parts of big, complicated projects for clients in the life sciences field are done on time. Finds and raises the profile of possible new business opportunities and helps with the sales process.
Essential Functions
- Helps design, build, and deliver consulting projects or parts of larger, more complex projects as part of a team or as a team leader.
- Looks at and analyzes client needs or problems and helps come up with proposals for cost-effective solutions that will make money and keep clients happy.
- Gives direction and advice to Analysts, Consultants, and, if necessary, Statistical Services who are working on the engagement.
- Makes detailed specifications and documentation.
- Does qualitative and/or quantitative analyses to help identify client problems and come up with solutions that work for each client.
- Creates, organizes, and gives client reports and presentations that are right for the audience and what they want or need.
- May tell clients about some of the findings.
- Suggests ways to make things better and other ways to solve problems.
- May find new business opportunities for follow-up work and new leads at the client they are assigned to.
- Checks in with the client after the project deliverable has been finished to make sure the client is happy.
- Actively expands and deepens their knowledge of consulting methods and the life sciences market through on-the-job experience and training opportunities. Starts to learn about CoE-specific subject matter.
- As Project Manager, manages project timelines and day-to-day communication with the client and team members in a proactive way.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree in business administration preferred.
- 5–8 years of experience in consulting and/or the life sciences industry.
- Has strong skills in managing projects, persuading clients, and building relationships.
- Works well and willingly with people inside and outside of the organization to reach team goals.
- Has a lot of experience building consultative relationships with senior managers and executives at clients in the life science industry.
- Able to handle many projects at once, change priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with consulting methods, tools, and techniques that are relevant to the functional area.
- Know what’s going on in the life science industry and what the most important issues are.
- Great skills at presenting, communicating, and persuading clients.
- Has set up a network and contacts for referrals.
- Knows enough about the subject to be able to manage projects well within a given CoE.
