The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) set up the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) to carry out the Conference’s decisions and programs for the spiritual and human development of God’s people.
About Caritas Ghana Confederation
Caritas Ghana is a charity organization of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) and a part of the global Caritas. Its goals are Social Development, Livelihood Promotion, Social Services, Promotion of Social and Environmental Justice, Public Policy Advocacy, and Promotion of Pro-Poor Policies and Action. Caritas Ghana’s main goal is to advocate for policies that help the poor and work for the good of all. The National Catholic Secretariat is in charge of it.
Job Description
The Business Development Officer will be in charge of creating and negotiating funding proposals for high-quality projects. He or she will also keep and build relationships with donors and partners and keep an eye on funding agreements and compliance. Your technical knowledge and expertise will set strategic direction and inspire new ideas in all parts of the BD cycle across Caritas Ghana’s thematic areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of the overall business strategy, lead and coordinate the search for ways to get money, and the creation of high-quality proposals for institutional donors (government and inter-governmental award issuing organisations, as well as foundations, corporations, and other awarding non-governmental organisations).
- Create donor profiles, keep track of donors’ priorities, keep strategies for asking donors for money, and keep good relationships with them.
- To keep funds coming in
- Lead the creation of agreements, proposals, presentations, briefing notes, and representations for resource mobilization.
- Organization in meetings with donors, workshops, and other relevant engagements.
- Set up, keep up, and coordinate efforts to co-finance grants at all levels.
- Make sure a funding needs assessment is done for Caritas Ghana.
- Create, manage, and keep up-to-date databases for Caritas Ghana to write down the contact information and any other important information about the donor or partner.
- Help with knowledge management and learning by making and updating databases for Caritas Ghana
Language Must Be English
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business development, project management, or a similar field.
- A Master’s degree in a similar field will be an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in getting resources, building businesses, or helping people in need, preferably with an international NGO.
- Previous experience giving technical help and putting together successful proposals for funding from outside donors.
- Knowing the policies of relevant institutions that give money, rules, ways of doing things, and priorities.
- Experience building businesses, designing projects, writing proposals and doing technical writing.
- Experience and skills in building relationships (networking) with Donors, peer groups, faith-based organizations, and civil society partners.
- Skilled with MS Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Web Conferencing Applications, systems for managing information and budgets, and networks for sharing knowledge.
