POSITION: Human Resource Manager

About the company

AGROPAL West Africa Limited (AGROPAL) is an agribusiness whose main goal is to process and sell West African fruits on international markets. AGROPAL makes dried fruits, most of which come from mangoes and pineapples. Our goal is to give everyone in the agricultural value chain the tools they need to help the whole sector grow. Our goal is for Ghana and West Africa to have a thriving agricultural sector that boosts economies, gives people jobs, and improves food security and health.

Job Description

As a growing company, AGROPAL is looking for new people to join its team and help it reach its goal of giving everyone in the agricultural value chain more power. So, AGROPAL wants to hire a Human Resource Manager who is self-motivated, energetic, analytical, and has an entrepreneurial spirit.

Duties and Obligations

The person who gets the job will be in charge of the following:

  • Set up or improve the operational systems of the company.
  • Review and update the company’s operational manuals and policies.
  • Support all aspects of employee relations and engagement in a way that is efficient and effective. This includes recruitment, employment terms, training, and development initiatives.
  • Make sure that employment laws and company policies are followed, making sure that everyone does so.
  • Work with the leadership of the organization to build and keep a culture of teamwork, commitment, empowerment, and innovation.
  • Supervise the people who work in human resources and take part in performance reviews and evaluations.
  • Develop strong working relationships with employees at all levels by giving them expert advice on different human resource policies and other related issues. This will help them understand and communicate best human resource (HR) practices better.
  • Assume responsibility for putting human resource policies into action and updating them on a regular basis, making sure that all HR issues are resolved on time and within the policy deadlines.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records on paper and in a computer, and make accurate reports when needed.
  • Prepare records of staff attendance for the finance department so that salaries and benefits can be paid out.
  • Handle employees’ annual time off.
  • Make a complete grievance and discipline system to keep track of conflict resolution and disciplinary actions, which will help create a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Develop and manage benefits packages for employees, which could include health insurance, retirement plans, leaves, pensions, and other things.
  • Play a key role in making sure that quality assurance and health and safety rules are followed, promoting a safe place of work for all staff.

Skills or Experience Needed

  • Have a Master’s degree in business administration, human resource management, or a related field. Having a certification as a human resource specialist is a good thing.
  • Show that you have managed more than 200 people in the past and that you did it well, preferably in a food processing factory.
  • Candidates must have worked in similar jobs for at least 10 years, preferably in the food processing industry.
  • Show that you have experience navigating complicated human resources procedures and engagements that involve multiple internal and external stakeholders from different cultures.
  • The candidate must have strong leadership and people skills.
  • Show that you have great written and spoken communication skills and are good at motivating, persuading, and negotiating.
  • The candidate should be able to do their job with little help from others.
  • Candidates should be able to work with people from different backgrounds.
  • The best candidates are usually women.
