POSITION: Land Access Officer

Company Description

Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited (CNML) is a subsidiary of Shandong Gold Mining Co. Ltd., which is publicly traded on the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock exchanges. CNML is developing its principal asset, which is located in Ghana’s Upper East Region, with the strategic goal of creating a world-leading, highly valued, and responsibly world-class gold mining operation.

Position Description

• Community and Social Responsibility Department
• Job Reporting Line: CSR Superintendent
• To aid in the management of land acquisition and negotiation for exploration and mining operations.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist parties in drafting crop rate agreements, guaranteeing fair compensation, and addressing complaints.
• Ensure that all land access activities are in accordance with the Minerals and Mining Act, regional and municipal regulations, and other applicable laws.
• Assist in obtaining the necessary permissions and approvals for operational land access and maintain compliance with permit restrictions throughout the project’s lifecycle.
• Keep detailed records of all land access and compensation agreements, actions, and paperwork.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of community engagement activities in order to establish positive relationships with the local community and other stakeholders.
• Assist in addressing and resolving land access, compensation, and community issues.
• Assist in the development of initiatives to reduce negative environmental and social impacts while increasing beneficial contributions to local communities.
• Prepare regular reports on land access and compensation actions, as well as compliance status, for internal and external stakeholders.
• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor based on the company’s needs.

Required Qualifications or Experience

Qualification(s) required

• Bachelor’s degree in Land Economy, Land Management, Geomatic Engineering, or a similar discipline
• Four (4) years of post-qualification mining sector experience in a similar job Experience in community participation and conflict resolution Must be fluent in at least one of the following local languages: Guruni (Frafra) or Talen

In-depth knowledge

• Knowledge of the Minerals and Mining (Compensation and Resettlement) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2175) is required.
• Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information System) may be useful.
• Strong understanding of the Upper East region’s land tenure arrangements and property rights
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation abilities, as well as outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of necessary software applications, such as the Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Planning, organization, and prioritization abilities
• Excellent interpersonal skills
