Overview and Background
The Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) project run for four years in the Ashanti and Western regions of Ghana.
GrEEn is aimed at women, youth, returnees, and Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises. Its main goal is to help address the root causes of irregular migration by supporting sustainable and climate-resilient local economies through the creation of green jobs and promoting green enterprise development in regions where migrants leave, transit, and return (MSMEs).
GrEEn is mostly paid for by the European Union through its Emergency Trust Fund (EUTF) for Africa. SNV Netherlands Development Organization and the United Nations Capital Development Fund are putting it into action (UNCDF).
GrEEn is focused on three main goals:
- To help local economies make the switch to green and climate-resilient development.
- To help certain people become more employable and start their own businesses by matching them with market opportunities and giving them guidance on (self-)employment and business development, with a focus on green and climate-resilient local economies.
- To build and improve local ecosystems that help young people find (self-)employment and small, medium, and large businesses grow (MSMEs).
About the Project
The marketing and communication department of the project is looking for an intern. The intern will be a part of a team that helps the project with its communication and publicity. The internship will last for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months. The terms of the contract will be the same as those in the SNV Internship Policy.
Certain jobs to do
Talking and the media:
- Firstly, Helping to plan and run events and activities; making sure the media knows about events and activities and keeping a list of media contacts up to date;
- Then, Helping with press monitoring, press cuttings, and keeping communications materials up to date;
- Also, Writing and checking the spelling and grammar of press releases, articles, blogs, and other documents for the media and communication;
- Lastly, Taking care of and updating social media and digital media platforms. Going on content-gathering missions in the field to record or highlight stories of impact.
Multimedia and public awareness:
- Taking photos and short videos of events and the people who benefit from them;
- Moreover, Putting together videos and audio;
- Also, Using brand guidelines to design infographics, GIFs, and artwork
- Finally, Do any other jobs that are given to you.
Skills or Experience Needed
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism, communication for development, graphic design, or a related field with at least six months of relevant work experience or a diploma certificate with at least two years of relevant work experience.
- Experience making videos and photos and being familiar with Adobe Suite, especially Adobe Premier Pro, Illustrator, and PhotoShop, as well as other tools and software for editing photos and videos.
- Experience working for a news media network or an event management firm is a plus.
- Good at getting along with others and talking to them.
- Must be from the Greater Accra Area.
- Must be willing to travel around the Ashanti and Western regions from time to time.
