We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and results-oriented individual to fill the following vacancy:

JOBV TITLE: EDITOR, GRAPHIC BUSINESS

This is a leadership position requiring the office holder to produce the Graphic Business newspaper and its website publications. This must be in furtherance of GCGL’s corporate goals and objectives within the framework of the company strategy, budget, policies and code of ethics.

Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

• Firstly, Take Editorial decisions for the paper and its website in terms of its news content to ensure increase in sales in support of the overall effort to grow the circulation of the newspaper, as well as audience for the digital platforms.
• Secondly, Ensure that the character of the paper and its website is in conformity with the agreed purpose of the paper and house style of the company.
• Thirdly, Ensure that all pages are read, edited and devoid of any grammatical and typesetting errors and thereby upholding the high image of the brand and its website.
• Moreover, Ensure that staff are appropriately assigned to undertake editorial duties, including gathering of news stories for the publication of the paper and its website.
• Additionally, Write editorials and blogs to reflect the opinion of the paper.
• Then, Source and coordinate the activities and contributions from external contributors to the newspaper for the purpose of sustaining columns and series that give a unique character to the brand.
• Also, Set and monitor performance targets of staff. Prepare monthly reports, mid-year reviews and annual budget.
• Afterwards, Responsible for the training and development, professionalism and motivation of the staff of the department.
• Finally, Develop ideas for events and implement them accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1st Degree in Communication/Journalism Studies or related field with eight (8) years work experience OR
• Diploma in Journalism from a reputable institution with ten (10) years work experience.
• A member of the Ghana Journalists Association
• A Master’s qualification in Communication Studies will be an advantage
