GIZ Ghana Latest Employment Opportunity

Job Title: Technical Advisor

The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is a government organization that works in more than 100 countries around the world for the public good. We work for the German government and help public and private clients in a wide range of areas, such as economic development and employment, energy and the environment, and peace and security. Our activities focus on three priority areas: Energy and Climate, which deals with renewable energy and energy efficiency; Training and Sustainable Growth for Decent Jobs; and Peaceful and Inclusive Societies, which focuses on good governance.

Project Summary:

The “Ghanaian-European Centre for Jobs, Migration, and Development” is run by GIZ as part of the global project “Centres for Migration and Development (CMD)”. The European Union helps pay for the Center. Its job is to give people who are looking for work information and advice about jobs in Ghana and other countries.

It does this with the help of three parts:

  1. Helping regular (intraregional and supraregional) migration that is geared toward development;
  2. Helping the reintegration of returned migrants and the economic participation of people who are vulnerable; and
  3. Building the skills of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and its Labor Department.

Scope of Role:

In the above-mentioned time frame, the Technical Advisor will give advice to people who are looking for counseling, who are interested in moving abroad, or who need help with reintegration.

Tasks:

  • Work as part of a team of advisors overseen by the Centre’s Component Manager
  • Help, advise, and guide GEC clients on regular migration and reintegration. • Use her or his work to contribute to GEC’s activities to build the capacity of MELR/LD
  • Plan events that have to do with GEC’s job.
  • Do research, read reports and documents, write detailed summaries, research notes, and briefings, and send them to the right people.
  • Make policy recommendations based on the research and analyses and present them to the group.
  • Help plan and design the project, including putting together, organizing, and leading planning exercises and putting them into action.
  • Close collaboration with partner institutions on impact monitoring, quality management, communication, and documentation of the right way to carry out project plans and activities.
  • Networking and working together with partner institutions and other relevant stakeholders, such as NGOs, research institutes, businesses, other projects, and donors, to keep good working relationships and work together to reach the project’s goals.

Needed Qualifications and Experience

  • A master’s degree in the social sciences or another field related to the project.
  • At least three years of experience in research, social advice, public policy, or another field related to the project.
  • Professional experience with monitoring and evaluating, writing reports, and analyzing data from surveys and other sources.
  • Very good written and spoken English and Ghanaian. Knowing how to work with German would be a plus.
  • Very good at writing and editing.
  • A strong understanding of MS Office, including the packages for analyzing and processing data.
  • Familiarity with the administrative, political, and policy environment in Ghana and the West African region.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with partners, officials, the media, and civil society.
  • A strong ability to work well with others, a high level of flexibility, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel around the country and to other countries
