Georgia Highlands College admissions without application fee for 2024–25

For the entire month of November, Georgia Highlands College will not charge applicants the standard $30 application fee to make obtaining a college education more accessible to anyone interested in doing so. This month is known as “No Fee November.”

Located in seven northwest Georgia counties, Georgia Highlands College (GHC) is a four-year university that was established in 1970 to offer educational opportunities for the intellectual, cultural, and physical growth of a diverse student body. The college’s influence has grown beyond its initial geographic boundaries because of the introduction of distance learning technology, specialty programs, five active campus sites, and cooperative agreements.

Students from counties in northwest Georgia, including Floyd, Polk, Chattooga, Gordon, Bartow, Cobb, Paulding, Cherokee, Douglas, Carroll, and Haralson Counties in Georgia, as well as counties in eastern Alabama and southeastern Tennessee, attend GHC, which has campuses in Rome, Cartersville, Marietta, Dallas, and Douglasville.

An Associate of Arts degree, an Associate of Science degree, a Bachelor of Science degree, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree are the four-degree options that GHC provides. Students can select from more than thirty areas of study in total, ten of which are entirely online.

Georgia Highlands College’s philosophy is embodied in the convictions that education should be both physically and geographically accessible as well as reasonably priced, and that education is vital to the intellectual, physical, economic, social, emotional, cultural, and environmental well-being of individuals and society. In keeping with this attitude, the institution upholds an inclusive teaching and learning environment and offers top-notch programs, services, and educational opportunities in response to needs that have been officially recognized.

Concerning Georgia Highlands College

The University System of Georgia includes Georgia Highlands College as one of its state colleges that consists of multiple campuses. The college, which began in 1970 as Floyd Junior College and today serves students from over 30 counties in Northwest Georgia, has seen its enrollment grow to thousands of students. In addition to its four physical locations in Rome, Cartersville, Marietta, and Dallas, Georgia Highlands College also offers an extensive online program.

In-class and online courses are available for over 40 different subject areas, leading to associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in a variety of disciplines. GHC is happy to be a contributor to the local economy, having an impact on the economy of the surrounding region of almost $170 million.

Programs offered:

Programs for Bachelor Degrees

Bachelor’s degree programs get students ready for the workforce after graduation. Students can apply to graduate degree programs after completing their bachelor’s degrees. Bachelor’s degree programs can be completed in four years on their own. Students can complete both an associate degree and a bachelor’s degree in four years by enrolling in several of GHC’s transfer associate degree programs, which satisfy the course requirements for the first two years of GHC bachelor degrees.

A block of upper-level degree preparation courses plus a core of general education courses make up every bachelor’s degree program. When choosing courses from their programs of study that best fit their job interests and long-term educational goals, all students should collaborate closely with their advisers.

The Bachelor of Science degree is offered in the following areas:

The following additional degrees are offered:

Programs for Career Associate Degrees

The goal of career associate degree programs is to have students ready for the workforce when they graduate with their associate degree. General education and career preparation courses make up these degree programs. Associate of Science Nursing, Associate of Science Human Services, and Associate of Science Dental Hygiene degrees are obtained through career associate degree programs.

Degree Program Nexus

The University System of Georgia introduced the Nexus Degree, a brand-new academic degree, in 2020. Since the 1890s, this is the first time a new degree program has been offered in the US. Targeting high-demand career sectors in Georgia, the Nexus requires the same 60 credit hours of completion as an associate’s degree.

Programs for Associate Degree Transfer

Programs for transfer associate degrees offer the first two years of coursework needed to get a bachelor’s degree at GHC or a four-year university. The Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree can be obtained through transfer associate degree programs.

Students who intend to pursue additional education in a variety of fields are well-prepared by earning an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree. These degrees include 18 hours of lower-level courses linked to a bachelor’s degree topic of study, 4 hours of institutional prerequisites, and 42 hours of mandatory core curriculum courses.

An academic pathway serves as a planning tool for students as they get ready to pursue their chosen bachelor’s degree program. Students who pursue the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science pathway will graduate with the general education credits needed to transfer into a four-year bachelor’s program. A pathway won’t be shown on the diploma and isn’t considered a major.
