Job Description
The Sustainable Soybean Production in Northern Ghana (SSPiNG) Project of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is looking for a Field Liaison Officer (FLO).
Duty Stations: Wa, Upper West Region
The Position
The Field Liaison Officer will lead and help the farming communities in the Upper West region that are taking part in the project along the soyabean value chains.
Primary Responsibilities
- Communicate between the project office and project partners, such as Nucleus Farmers, Seed Companies, FBOs, and MoFA field Extension Officers, to carry out project activities.
- Help and plan the logistics for partners’ pre-season training.
- Set up and give partners the things they need to do demonstrations and make certified seeds.
- Provide help to partners with setting up demonstrations and making seeds.
- Collect Monitoring and Evaluation Data from Partners and all other field activities.
- Editing, cleaning, and entering/uploading data, as well as any other tasks that the Project Coordinator gives you.
Needed Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in agriculture, agricultural extension, or a similar field. Having a Master’s degree will be a plus.
- At least 3 years of research and/or extension work in agriculture
Core Competencies:
- The person in this position must be focused on getting things done and be able to handle and meet multiple, sometimes conflicting, organizational, partner, and other stakeholder needs on the ground.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral). It would be helpful to know any of the local dialects of the target regions.
- He or she must be able to work well with other people and be a strong team player.
- Has good interpersonal and networking skills.
- Working with local partners to carry out activities has been shown to be effective.
- Basic knowledge of how to use ICT tools to collect data.

Terms of appointment: This is a position for Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS). The first appointment is for two years, but it could be extended based on how well the person does and how much money is available.
