A couple based at Enchi-Yakase in the Western North Region has been caged by the police for beating their four-year-old daughter to death for bedwetting.
Salome Oteku, 27, and her 34-year-old husband, Effah Donaldson are said to have beaten the victim from dawn till morning, leaving her unconscious.
Investigations also revealed that the suspects scalded their daughter’s backside when they forced her to sit inside hot water to prevent the frequent bedwetting.
Confirming the issue to Adom News’ Augustine Boah, the Enchi Police Divisional Commander, ACP Henry Bacho, said the parents tried to rush the child to Aowin Community Clinic, but she passed on before arrival.
Knowing the consequences of their action, Salome and Davidson attempted to bury their child inside their room but failed after suspicious neighbors raised an alarm.
The police were called to the scene and the couple was immediately arrested.
Police say they have confessed to the crime.
Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at the Enchi Government Hospital for autopsy.

Detectives in Nigeria in collaboration with community youth have arrested three suspects for attempted ritual killing.
It is reported that the suspects, two aged 15 and a 16 years old on Monday, January 3, allegedly accosted one Endeley Comfort and lured her to the elder suspect’s apartment.
According to a police statement, the suspects hypnotized the victim, cut off her finger, and sprinkled the blood on a mirror for ritual purposes.
They were, however, apprehended when vigilante youth noticed the suspicious movements of the teenagers and raised an alarm.
The suspects were subsequently arrested and some substances suspected to be charms were recovered from them.
They have since confessed to the crime and led police to where some other items were retrieved as exhibits.
Meanwhile, the victim is receiving medical treatment.
