ROLE: Program Support Specialist III – Education & Faith

This vocation specialist advises on, designs, and implements comprehensive child development programs and interventions. In general, the expert delivers highly skilled knowledge in two or more holistic development subspecialties and is useful in others. At this level of responsibility, the incumbent contributes to the local program design, working alone and as part of a team on big or complicated initiatives. Work may have an immediate effect on more than one field office. He or she may be in charge of coaching and supervising the work of other professionals.

The Program Support Specialist – Education and Faith will review and analyze pertinent data from CDPR assessments and give support to the frontline church partner.

The program support specialist, Education and Faith will recommend any steps needed regarding overall program improvement and/or the support, equipping, and training of Frontline Church Partners based on the current state of children and youth (ages 6–12+) as determined by the Monitoring & Evaluation Specialists and the GMC Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning Team.

He or she will work with the Partnership Facilitator to establish objectives in the Facilitation Work Plan so that the frontline church partner can be assisted in improving the quality of programming at the center.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps a close relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a continuous witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a gracious, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people both inside and outside of Compassion, and faithfully prays for Compassion’s ministry.
  • Serves as a kid advocate. Recognizes and promotes Christ’s mission to safeguard children. Raises awareness of children’s needs and takes active actions to safeguard children from neglect, abuse, and exploitation.
  • Promotes children’s dignity, respect, positive treatment, and potential in all circumstances. Encourages people to join in assisting youngsters in need. If an episode of child harm occurs, it is reported and adequately supported.
  • Other workers benefit from excellent program design subject matter understanding. Contributes to the continual development and implementation of local program design in accordance with global objectives.
  • Provides knowledge on a regular basis to other field office professionals, support staff, and Frontline Church Partners to ensure that they are appropriately informed and prepared to promote holistic development for caregivers, children, and youth.
  • Creates and oversees the execution of specific holistic child development strategies and treatments. In collaboration with partnership facilitators, we provide capacity-building and child/youth/caregiver engagement activities in areas of competence. Contextualizes aspects of curriculum relevant to their expertise or other resources for child and youth development on a regular basis. Assists in the development of partnerships by ensuring that intervention records, reports, and other documents are accurate, complete, and given to the right parties.
  • Review and evaluate data to assist management and key stakeholders in improving program initiatives, interventions, and child outcomes. Consulting services are provided to encourage learning and innovation at various levels in order to improve programming for beneficiaries and FCPs.
  • May coach and consult with other program support professionals at the field office.

Faith

Has a personal relationship with Christ Jesus.

Culture

Accountable for promoting, upholding, and acting in the basic “Cultural Behaviors” of Compassion in all internal and external communication and relationships.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in child or youth development, education, social work, or a related discipline is required, as is work experience.

Seven years of experience in this or a related profession or subject.
A working knowledge of business, entrepreneurship, or business growth will be advantageous.

Competencies and Abilities

  • An awareness of the national education system, particularly as it relates to primary and junior secondary alternatives.
  • An understanding of the developmental milestones and patterns of children and teens aged 12 and up, as well as associated activities (e.g., sports camps, spiritual retreats, etc.) that will benefit their general well-being
  • Should be up-to-date on current educational policies regarding literacy and curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of youth mobilization and activism
  • Capable of coordinating and facilitating talks across numerous working groups.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively both inside and internationally.
  • Capability to display servant leadership and live out Compassion’s Partnership Principles when assisting Frontline Church Partners
  • Capability to collaborate with other ministries and organizations.
  • Professional ability to represent Compassion.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (verbal and written).
