Chemonics International Invites Job Applications
Chemonics International is looking for Technical Leads for the Empower West Africa (EWA) Activity, which will be funded by USAID. The goal of the activity, which is part of the Power Africa initiative, is to make more affordable, reliable, sustainable, and clean energy available in West Africa and make it easier for people to get it.
This is done to achieve measurable economic growth and development goals, such as reducing poverty, improving livelihoods, and giving more people access to electricity-enabled services in health, education, sanitation, and food security.
Activity could have the following goals:
- Stop energy poverty by giving more people access to cheap, stable energy that can help the economy grow and raise living standards.
- Clean energy options can be used to increase the amount of electricity in countries in Western Africa.
- Get rid of the things that make it hard for people to invest in the energy areas of Western Africa and boost innovation.
The Technical Leads will be in charge of and give advice on a wide range of technical program goals in Western Africa. Also, The Technical Leads will look over and improve the technical results of EWA’s work in the area. They will do this to make sure that the results are high quality and technically excellent.
The person in this position will help the Chief of Party (COP) and Senior Technical Advisor with all parts of program execution and offer technical advice. He or she will have a part both inside and outside the organization in Western Africa. Moreover, He or she will help the EWA technical team figure out which country-specific tasks are most important and how to rank them.
He or she will also keep in regular contact with the Power Africa Coordinator’s office and other USAID Mission and office. West Africa is where this job will be based. We want people who really want to make a change in the lives of people all over the world.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership in the West Africa area to get the results that are expected.
- Manage, supervise, and coordinate technical services. Set priorities for activities in the Western Africa area and provide thought leadership and technical support as needed to speed up a support activity.
- Talk to the USAID missions in West Africa, the Power Africa Coordinator’s Office, and other USG departments on a regular basis, as needed.
- Keep close ties with important regional organizations, private companies, and the governments of the host country.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or better, Master’s degree.
- At least five years’ experience putting energy plans into action. Work knowledge in West Africa is a plus.
- Excellent reasoning skills and the ability to talk and write clearly.
- Both English and French well.
- Proven ability to respond quickly to ad hoc requests.
- Regional experience in West Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo).
