About the Position
The Sector Manager will supervise a team of workers in the field to promote the direct procurement of cocoa beans from local communities in Ghana. He/she will offer guidance in developing a robust, disciplined, dedicated, and loyal team to accomplish all objectives established by the company for the sector. He/she will offer leadership by establishing and overseeing quality service management systems, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in purchasing, quality, proper storage, and timely departures to ports. The position is located in Kumasi at Nyonkopa Cocoa Buying Ltd, directly reporting to the Cocoa Sourcing Manager.
Main Duties
- Overseeing staff in the field for the Sector.
- Guaranteeing the release of seed funds to District P/Cs solely for stocks that have been delivered to the depot (according to the company’s policy);
- Making sure that the funds requested and distributed to the Sector/district are exclusively utilized for cocoa procurement.
- Guaranteeing the presence of sufficient trade tools at the different purchasing locations.
- Guaranteeing adherence to the organization’s policies.
- Maintaining accurate records for all seed fund transactions and securing receipt of corresponding stocks.
- Guaranteeing the acquisition of high-quality cocoa according to QCC standards, appropriate and sufficient storage, grading and sealing, and prompt transportation to the port.
- Then, Make sure that P/Cs Commission are disbursed and vouchers sent to the head office.
- Also, Make sure that purchases and evacuations are reconciled weekly.
- Guaranteeing that accurate financial records are maintained for all societies (society waybills, Monitors, Ledger, etc.).
- Moreover, Make certain that signed weekly returns/reports are sent to the head office (hardcopy) by the districts.
- Verification and validation of seed fund requests by district managers.
- To collaborate with the company’s Monitoring Team to guarantee that reliable records and statements are secured or provided.
- Accountable for cocoa shortages in your department.
- Submission of floating fund expenditures accompanied by the Trip record and operations document attached.
- Implementing strategies to improve the company’s image and performance.
- Informing the main office about any wrongdoing
- Achieve outcomes across all functions by collaborating as a team.
- Oversee district personnel by providing training, guiding them, evaluating performance, and disciplining subordinate staff.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area – Supply Chain, Marketing/Trade/Management with strong business insight and at least 5 years of experience in a commercial position.
- Strong understanding of the development of the cocoa market and solid grasp of financial management along with insight into profitability concepts concerning the cocoa supply chain.
- Knowledgeable about current trends in sustainability and regulatory matters.
- Robust analytical and critical abilities to guarantee high-quality data and uniformity in KPI reporting.
- Possess robust leadership qualities, along with problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in English and the native languages spoken in the Ghanaian cocoa belt is essential.
- Expertise in MS Office programs – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ready to travel 85% of the time within the regional area.
- Capacity to guide and train juniors for advanced positions
