POSITION: Engineering Manager
Job purpose
To provide, manage, and direct cost-effective engineering maintenance and project services to all sites with respect to AECI plants and fleets to meet business needs, safety, and all other company and departmental requirements to ensure continuous operation and production and meet organizational targets.
Functional outputs
- Maintain a functional budget within approved limits and inventory levels.
- Ensure maintenance team work meets operational requirements and is cost-effective.
- Help build and implement systems for the Engineering department to offer effective work planning, efficient and safe work practices, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical assistance to management to build the safety management plan in accordance with AECI requirements.
- Review safety standards and work procedures. Ensure compliance with engineering standards, maintenance rules, and laws. Assist with technical input to solve process engineering problems, ensuring timely responses and documentation for organizational knowledge management.
- Plant maintenance and development enhancements are implemented, with corrective action conducted in problem areas to increase machine efficiencies.
- To recommend adjustments to existing equipment, plants, fleets, and facilities, as well as their possible replacement, to increase machine efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Human Capital Training Department to manage and develop direct reports.
- Maintain a disciplined and motivated team for continuous operations.
- Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers to meet company needs and performance requirements safely.
- Produce the required reports to guide management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required. • 7 to 1 year of experience in engineering management, with at least 5 years of hands-on expertise in maintenance operations and projects.
- Professional or statutory engineer qualification, as well as a MinCom certificate of competency for engineering managers.
- Be a member of a relevant professional body.
- Possess strong project management skills. \Familiarity with Minerals and Mining Acts and regulations.
- Proficiency in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Job Specification
Specific experience is necessary.
The ability to communicate with customers at all operational and management levels is critical. The incumbent must have good project and people management abilities. The firm prioritizes project and people management, including coaching and mentoring. Required skills include knowledge of essential pumps, hydraulics, and PLCs, as well as a strong commitment to on-site health and safety requirements.
