ROLE: Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Lead

Core Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and oversight, as well as make sure that all development goals and tasks use GESI approaches.
- Develop the project’s GESI strategy and be in charge of putting it into action.
- Then, Help the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Team come up with and change tools and methods to support the MEL strategy.
- Work closely with the MEL team to make sure that the MEL plan and framework take GESI’s worries into account. Make sure there are gender-sensitive success indicators and that GESI outcomes are measured throughout the project.
- Also, Lead the design and integration of GESI activities and tools into work planning to promote gender equity in project execution and reach GESI project goals.
- Work with the technical team to figure out how to incorporate GESI tasks into technical assistance, grants, and building up people’s skills. Use GESI analysis to make sure that all program events include women, girls, young people, and other vulnerable groups.
- Work closely with program staff and partners to help them build their skills and knowledge of GESI problems, and then incorporate these things into program activities.
- Talk to the people who matter to get under-represented groups interested in jobs in the energy industry.
- Design strategies for inclusion in the energy industry and lead activities for inclusion across all program goals.
What We Value
- Master’s degree or the equivalent in foreign affairs, gender studies, anthropology, international development, sociology, or a related field
- 10 or more years of experience with gender equality and social inclusion, women’s empowerment, and working with marginalized or displaced populations, ideally in energy-focused programs.
- You need to have worked in the energy business in West Africa.
Working with USAID or other projects backed by donors is a plus. - Experience quickly putting together technical and management teams to meet client needs.
- Knowledge of Sub-Saharan Africa’s policies, rules, and limits on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change.
- You must be able to speak English well, and speaking French well is recommended.
