Job Description
The Project Manager is solely responsible for the group’s project implementation. The project manager ensures that the project/changes are completed on time, within budget, and with sufficient quality to fulfill stakeholder expectations. All project/change delivery must adhere to Absa’s change policies and processes.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Led the project’s start-up and planning, as well as its technical feasibility.
- Create a detailed strategy for tracking and monitoring the project’s progress.
- Regular communication with internal and external stakeholders is required to guarantee that projects are finished on schedule.
- Maintain client and stakeholder relationships.
- You can follow the progress of your project with the correct project management tools.
- Reduce project risks by doing a risk management analysis.
- Assist in ensuring that financed initiatives are properly managed and implemented within schedule, cost, quality, and risk restrictions.
- You must be open-minded, and passionate, and your work must energize others.
- Must be devoted to delivering a job well done on time.
Position Description
Project Definition and Planning (25%) Accountability
- Evaluate the need for change in the business and build or assist in the creation of a business case.
- Define, scope, and plan the project, as well as agree on the structure and deliverables.
- As needed, obtain Project Sponsor approval for the business case.
- Prepare and agree on detailed project/sub-project duties.
- Agree on resource needs with Business and IT Support. Exclusivity:
Project and Change Delivery (50%)
- Responsible for minor Project Management initiatives, functioning either alone or with a small team (typically from the BAU line, who are often seconded part-time to the project).
- To ensure project delivery, adhere to the proper structures developed and maintained by the Project Manager.
- Prepare an up-to-date and accurate projection of expenses, cash flow, timeframes, and resource requirements, and reach an agreement with the Project Steering Committee.
- Determine all items and tasks involved in their completion. Prepare and maintain precise and accurate project and resource plans, including current activity completion estimations.
- Prepare and agree on thorough project plans in order to fulfill project goals on schedule and within budget.
- Coordination, assessment, and reporting of project progress versus plan, as well as escalation of issues as needed.
- Maintain agreed-upon resource, scheduling, and quality controls.
- Demonstrate good stakeholder management (with minimal involvement).
- Identify areas of risk, concern, change, and issue management procedures, and make suitable recommendations.
- Make certain that the business advantages are owned and delivered.
- Manage the handover of project deliverables and the project’s completion.
Stakeholder Management (25%) is held accountable.
- Identify, analyze, and comprehend project stakeholders’ expectations.
- Effective stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Regular verbal and written communication with relevant stakeholders to explain the business case, get commitment and support, and report project progress.
- Consultations with the Accountable Executive/sponsor to report on project progress, escalate difficulties, and so on.
- When necessary, communicate with other firms and other enablers to support the project.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in the telecommunications/banking industry
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in project management Certification in Project or Agile techniques and/or Design Thinking A business-related degree or certificate would be advantageous
Knowledge & Skills: (At least 3)
- Extensive knowledge of change management best practices and disciplines
- Knowledge of the bank’s systems, goods, and services
- Experience managing activity across the whole lifespan of a project, utilizing contemporary technology, organized methodologies, and a quality process
- Governance, control, and risk management exposure
- Proven ability to work effectively in teams at all levels

Education
