POSITION: Finance & Administrative Officer

Company Profile

CERATH Development Organization (CDO) is a non-profit organization that aims to catalyze African development. CDO is operating in Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. CDO has five major intervention areas. These are (I) Agriculture (II) Fisheries (III) Renewable Energy (IV) Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and (V) Inclusive Finance and Renewable Energy — the organization focuses on uplifting marginalized areas with the ultimate goal of contributing to West Africa’s sustainable development.

Job Description.

As a growing organization, CDO seeks additional expertise to supplement its existing finance and administration teams and further its aim of enabling all actors in the agricultural value chain. As a result, CDO is looking to hire a self-motivated, innovative, analytical, and enthusiastic candidate for the Finance and Administrative Officer position.

Duties and responsibilities

  • The recruited applicant will be accountable for the following:
  • Maintain the general ledger and coordinate the monthly balance and reconciliation of project accounts.
  • Ensure all accounting and monetary transactions are handled safely, efficiently, and transparently.
  • Maintain cashbooks and other financial records.
  • Maintain a deposit and check register.
  • Prepare a monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial reports that follow CERATH’s standards and procedures.
  • Ensure that all supporting documentation is completed and filed under CERATH’s processes.
  • Create and submit monthly predictions.
  • Coordinate and monitor procurement and financial transactions.
  • Prepare, submit, and file contracts for staff and local consultants by CERATH policy and processes, as well as Ghanaian labour laws.
  • Assist with the payment of salary and benefits to employees, including updating leave records, and ensuring that the project complies with Ghanaian employment, taxation, and other relevant regulations.
  • Prepare procurement papers for products purchased, including requesting bids, creating the purchase order, and coordinating with the headquarters as needed.
  • Support with vendor payments and other services or items in compliance with CERATH standards and procedures.
  • Purchase, transportation, inventory management, warehousing, and delivery are all examples of support tasks.
  • Support office administration activities, such as monitoring agreements with security and cleaning service providers, communicating with the landlord about rent agreements and payments, and providing utility and internet service.
  • Support volunteer logistics as needed, such as hotel reservations and payments, screening and paying extra vendors (e.g., contract drivers or interpreters if necessary), and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follows up with amazing travel advances.
  • All financial administration and compliance issues should be reported immediately.
  • Other duties and tasks are performed as requested by management.
  • Review and propose ways for increasing efficiency and lowering costs to boost profitability.

Required Skill or Experience

  • At least a Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, or equivalent post-secondary education in business and finance.
  • Excellent financial analysis capabilities.
  • Must have great expertise in using Tally ERP 9 or QuickBooks.
  • The ability to use SAP software will be an advantage.
  • The candidate must have at least four years of experience (excluding national service) in accounting or finance. Candidates without the required years of experience will be automatically disqualified.
  • Must be fluent in English with excellent written and spoken communication abilities.
  • The candidate must be proactive, dedicated, performance-driven, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • The candidate must have previous experience as a team player.
  • The candidate should be aggressive, a good listener, a critical thinker, and self-motivated.
  • Capable of planning and organizing complex situations.

Duration

The post will be for one year, subject to annual renewal, and depends on strong performance and the availability of financing for the role.

Work Location: CERATH Development Organisation, Westlands, Greater Accra.
