How to Prepare

Every day, WFP works in every country to make sure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the most vulnerable and impoverished people, especially women and children, have access to the wholesome food they require. The following activities are listed as those appropriate for the proficiency level:

1 . Supply Chain Management

shows a thorough understanding of supply chain management techniques. carries out analytical and conceptual work to support the creation and application of strategies. Implements strategies in their own sphere of authority.

2 . Planning the supply chain

oversees supply chain planning for the managed region of operations. oversees and coordinates recurring planning with partners and across functions. makes ensuring that strategies are in place and that plans are based on consensus.

3 . Networks & Supply Chain Management

oversees the whole supply chain within the operational area. oversees the development and implementation of networks for partnerships, retail, and supply chains. oversees and organizes the supply chain services’ integrated delivery.

4 . Strengthening the capacity of the supply chain

oversees the planning and execution of initiatives to increase the capability of the supply chain within the controlled region of operations. uses the supply chain networks and capabilities of WFP to boost national value chains and stakeholders.

5. Performance & Development of the Supply Chain

oversees initiatives for continual supply chain innovation and development within the managed area of operations. sets operational performance goals, keeps track of progress, foresees dangers, and takes precautions to reduce them in order to take prompt corrective action.

Eligibility Requirements

The following requirements must be met by Candidates in order to be accepted into this program:

• A university degree in logistics & supply chain, political science, humanitarian aid, or a closely connected discipline.
• It is also acceptable to have a proven equal combination of education and experience.

Experience:

It is necessary to have at least 5 years of post-graduate, increasingly responsible professional experience in the fields of disaster risk reduction (DRR), developing capacity, working with government/national actors, and logistics emergency response.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Consent to and understanding of concepts and methods for building capability.
• Capable of leading in a team-based workplace, working under pressure and with little direction and, when applicable, within remote working restrictions;
• Logistics and supply chain management expertise in the humanitarian sector;
• Planning expertise in the sector.
• Effective oral and written communication abilities are essential, as are report-writing skills.
• Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills with the capacity to manage sizable cross-cultural group activities.
• Ability to easily communicate, establish, and maintain connections with senior government officials.
• Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) proficiency.
• The ability to work in demanding situations and field settings, being proactive in detecting project risks, and having a problem-solving attitude (i.e., recognizing and alerting of potential/actual issues along with a suggested solution).

Preventing famine

WFP has the know-how, extensive reach, and operational size to halt hunger in its tracks and keep people from starving to death.
