UNFPA Ghana Calls For Job Applications

ROLE: Project OfficerMonitoring and Reporting – Peacebuilding Fund

The position

UNFPA Ghana contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-2025, collaborating with Ghana’s government and people to promote long-term economic and social development, peace, and human rights.

UNFPA, in collaboration with UNDP, is implementing a peace-building project in Ghana’s three northern regions titled Enhancing social cohesion and social contract, through empowerment of women and youth, as part of its efforts to end conflict-related gender-based violence and harmful practices and increase the voices of young people in local government. The initiative seeks to prevent and solve the underlying causes of localised and spillover conflicts, as well as vulnerabilities to violent extremism in Northern Ghana.

The project would specifically empower local governance institutions, actors, and customary governance structures to enable more inclusive, responsive, and responsible governance, economic development, and quality service delivery in these marginalised regions, resulting in a peace dividend.

How to make a difference:

UNFPA is the primary UN organisation responsible for achieving a future in which every pregnancy is desired, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is realised. The UNFPA strategic plan (2022-2025) maintains the validity of the organization’s existing strategic orientation and focuses on three transformative outcomes: the abolition of needless maternal deaths, the elimination of unmet family planning needs, and the abolition of gender-based violence and harmful behaviours.

These findings reflect our strategic commitments to accelerate progress towards achieving the ICPD and SDGs in the Decade of Action leading up to 2030. Our strategy plan encourages UN Member States, organisations, and individuals to “build forward better” while addressing the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on women’s and girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, recouping lost gains, and achieving our objectives.
