Concerning the ASEAN Mutual Scholarship Program

The purpose of the “Türkiye Scholarships—ASEAN Joint Scholarship Programme” is to provide students from this region with access to higher education in Turkey while also strengthening collaboration with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Full-scope scholarships are offered under this program to inhabitants of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia for master’s, research, and language courses.

Level of degree:

The Government of Turkey: ASEAN Scholarship 2024 for Foreign Students. (Fully Funded) is offered to students enrolled in Masters and Research programs at Turkish universities.

Details of the Master’s Degree Program:

• Duration: two years of academic study and a one-year course on Turkish language preparation
• Coverage includes enrollment in the university and program, a monthly stipend of TL 5,000, tuition for the university, a one-year Turkish language course, housing, and health insurance. Single-use airline ticket (before and after study completion)
• Time frame: eight to ten months
• Covered Institutions: Gazi University, Ankara University, and Hacı Bayram Veli University

Coverage includes a monthly stipend of TL 3,500, a Turkish language course lasting eight to ten months, lodging, health insurance, and a one-time flight ticket (both before and after the study is completed).

Details of the Research Scholarship:

• Time frame: three to twelve months
• Coverage: TL 8,000 monthly stipend
• Covered Universities: Every university in Turkey

Nationalities That Qualify:

Open to international students from Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Qualifications:

To be eligible for the ASEAN Joint Scholarship Program (Turkish Scholarships), applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

• Citizenship: Candidates must be nationals of one of the ASEAN member states.
• Applicants have to be under thirty years old.
• A minimum academic achievement rate of 75% is needed for Master’s programs.
• A minimum academic performance rate of 70% is required for language courses.

Scholarly Research:

• Candidates must be younger than 50 years old.
• They need to be enrolled in or have already finished a Ph.D. program.
• Research applicants must have a certificate of research acceptance from a Turkish university.

Application Requirements:

• Possessing a citizenship other than that of the Turkish Republic. The Research Scholarship Program is not open to nationals of the Republic of Turkey, dual citizens, either of whose citizenship belongs to the Republic of Turkey, or individuals who have lost their Turkish citizenship for whatever reason.
• having finished a doctoral program, either domestically or elsewhere, or have enrolled in one and chosen a thesis topic afterward. The Research Scholarship Program is not open to candidates who are still pursuing their doctorates in Turkey.
• having not reached fifty years of age on the first day of the application period.
• Also, having a research acceptance certificate from a Turkish university.

*Certificate of Research Acceptance: An official document that the relevant department of Turkish university issues to the candidate, certifying that the candidate is permitted to use the university’s facilities for research purposes. It includes information about the research subject, the adviser’s name, the start and end dates of the study, and the name of the university and department.

Application Information:

Master’s Degree and Language Courses: Applications are accepted from January 10 to February 20, 2024, via the Türkiye Scholarships Information System (https://tbbs.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr/).

Research Scholarships: The same application process will be used for submissions throughout 2024.
