POSITION: Technical Services Manager

Company Profile

Pumptech Limited is a renowned Ghanaian water infrastructure firm that was established in 2007 with the goal of delivering reliable water supply to homes, villages, and townships. PTL leads the design, development, and operational management of water pumping systems from four (4) satellite offices in Greater Accra, Tamale, Wa, and Ahafo.

We have more than 15 years of expertise and a team of skilled experts to assist individuals, institutions, and co-operatives seeking information, education, and a credible place to obtain water pump goods in the renewable and energy efficiency industries. We are the authorized dealer for LORENTZ and GRUNDFOS pumps.

Position Description

The Technical Services manager must strike a balance between managing technical procedures and teams and leveraging his or her technical expertise to create the appropriate environment for project success. A technical manager’s job is demanding, requiring proficiency in both technical and managerial domains.

Technical

  • Ensure that teams adhere to the necessary procedures, regulations, and documentation requirements throughout the project phases.
  • Capable of leading the team through the development, testing, and implementation stages, as well as efficiently reviewing completed work.
  • Provide design direction and technical skills in cost estimation.
  • Capable of making quick judgments and resolving technical issues in order to provide an efficient environment for project implementation.
  • Determine resource and equipment requirements, plan capacity efficiently, and manage software and hardware availability.
  • When necessary, provide technical training to teams and serve as a technical mentor to team members.

Management

  • Establish standard operating procedures and project guidelines.
  • Team member performance rating and task assignment
  • Project management and resource allocation
  • Project planning, budgeting, and reporting
  • Make project status presentations, as well as monthly and annual reports.
  • Hold regular team meetings and keep track of project progress.
  • Conduct team member performance reviews to find areas for improvement, provide feedback, and recommend promotions or salary increases.
  • Estimate project budgets, work with the finance department to secure funding, and prepare for the most cost-effective equipment and hardware purchases.
  • Provide an effective working environment for project teams and guarantee that objectives are accomplished on schedule.

Required Qualifications or Experience

Technical Knowledge

  • Proficient in dealing with the most complicated technical development concepts, the most recent software tools and technologies, solid database principles, and design methodologies.
  • Good understanding of various software platforms for project planning and implementation.
  • Troubleshooting experience and the ability to understand and implement customer requirements are required.

Management Capabilities

  • Capability to successfully communicate with teams and clients.
  • Understand project needs, collaborate with resources, and steer projects in the proper direction on schedule.
  • Capability to manage change and efficiently communicate information to involved teams for smoother implementation.
  • Delegate and allocate responsibilities effectively to manage projects from start to finish.

Management

  • Lead teams effectively and encourage others to achieve goals via innovation, quality, and perfection.
  • Ability to identify team members’ strengths and limitations and make appropriate modifications when/if necessary.
  • Ability to manage resources and deal with complex/sensitive topics.
  • Encourage team engagement, motivate employees, and recognize team contributions.
  • Ability to align project tasks with chances for development in order to maximize personnel potential.

Required

  • Engineering Master of Science. Ideally in electrical/electronic, mechanical, or civil engineering.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a senior supervisory role in civil works is required.
  • Knowledge and experience in civil, electrical, and mechanical equipment are required.
  • Knowledge and experience in the development of water infrastructure is preferred.

On-the-job training

  • A work history that demonstrates successfully completed tasks.
  • A qualified driver with a driver’s license is a plus.

Additional Management Courses Knowledge

  • Drawing/design preparation
  • Bids/Proposal Development Technical Report Preparation and Writing
  • Excellent Communication/Presentation
  • Ability to read and comprehend product datasheets, specifications sheets, and other product literature.
  • Knowledge of Design Software for Water Infrastructure Development
