CERATH Development Organization (CDO) is a non-profit organization that aims to catalyze African development. CDO is operating in Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. CDO has five major intervention areas. These are (I) agriculture, (II) fisheries, (III) renewable energy, (IV) water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and (V) inclusive finance.
Job Description.
CDO’s Internship Program provides recent graduates and post-graduate students from a variety of academic backgrounds with chances to get direct practical development sector experience through initiatives and projects in five major intervention areas. CDO interns have experiential learning opportunities and meaningful experiences that help them develop academically, professionally, and personally. CDO is seeking applications from self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals for an Intern-Agribusiness Sector Research post as part of its agriculture programming.
Roles and responsibilities
- The chosen applicant will contribute to quantitative and qualitative research on the potential for agribusiness performance and growth, as well as an enhanced agribusiness environment in West Africa. Intern-Agribusiness Sector Research will collaborate with the agriculture research and programming teams.
- The position will involve developing methodological techniques and data-gathering tools for quantitative and qualitative research tasks.
- Compile complete bibliographies with links to evidence reports.
- Conduct literature reviews and offer writing and editing assistance on certain agriculture issues.
- Analyze field data using suitable frameworks and technologies to help generate research reports and communication outputs.
- Create appropriate communication materials (speeches, brochures, success stories, social media materials, etc.).
- Assist in the planning of conferences, workshops, or other events;
- Contribute to the creation and execution of initiatives, projects, or programs;
- Provide administrative support as needed.
- Other relevant tasks are determined by the supervisor.
Required Skill or Experience
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in agricultural economics, agribusiness, or agriculture.
- A Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences with experience as a research assistant in a research project during the previous three years;
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Strong experience with qualitative analysis will be an extra plus.
- Cross-sectoral experience (international agricultural development and business, agri-food, and investment finance) will be advantageous;
- Technical/functional competencies
- Capability to search for suitable sources in various academic databases and online platforms.
- Excellent writing abilities, as well as strong analytical and communication capabilities;
- Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities, the ability to handle workload with minimal supervision, engage with colleagues and varied actors while meeting deadlines;
- Ability to work well as part of a group and alone on complicated assignments;
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding atmosphere.
- Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office
