Job Title: Engaging Communication Consultant

Job Description
The consultant would report to the Country Director of Pure Earth Ghana, with additional functional reporting lines to the Communications team at the Headquarters.
Overview
The Communications consultant will make media products that show current programs in Ghana. This will make Pure Earth’s work in Ghana and the surrounding area more visible and known.
Ghanaian government officials, multilateral and bilateral funding agencies (USAID, EU, etc.), and the world’s largest philanthropic institutions are the main people who use these products.
Responsibilities
This is what the Communications Consultant will be in charge of:
- Write down the activities, results, and effects of three current projects (Blood Lead Level, Home Based Assessment, Rapid Marketplace Screening). This will require making a video, writing articles or blog posts with still photos, and interviewing the project’s leaders, partners, stakeholders, and people from the community. These core assets will be used to make posts for social media. The materials that are made should focus on telling stories that are interesting and have a sense of urgency, and they should lead to high-quality creative outputs.
- Launch one to two social media channels for Pure Earth Ghana and get people to follow them. Work with the Pure Earth communications team at HQ for help promoting channel launch, building audience engagement, and making compelling content that shows what the organization does.
- Reach out to the media to get coverage about lead and mercury pollution and the solutions Pure Earth Ghana and its partners are working on in all of Ghana. Work with partners and interested parties to reach out to the media. Outputs include press releases, emails, and phone calls to media targets to pitch key messages. This leads to three pieces of coverage in print, online, radio/TV, or broadcast media.
- Work with the communications team at HQ to save all video, photo, and graphic files made in Ghana by using the media asset management system.
Skills or Experience Needed
- Proven track record of making and producing compelling media pieces (video, multimedia, graphics, and print) for non-profit organizations.
- Proven track record of getting issues, projects, and organizations covered by the media.
- At least three years of experience setting up and growing digital and social media channels.
- Experience putting strategic communication goals into action and getting partners and other important people involved.
- Excellent skills in writing, editing, presenting, and talking to people.
