New Job Advertisement at Zipline

ROLE: Fulfillment Operations Lead – GH-5, Ghana

ABOUT ZIPLINE

Do you want to make a difference? Zipline wants to change the way goods are moved. Our goal is to solve the most important and difficult access problems in the world by building, manufacturing, and running the first instant delivery and logistics system that works for all people, no matter where they are. We are changing the way businesses, governments, and consumers move things. For example, we power Rwanda’s national blood delivery network and Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

We also provide on-demand home delivery for Walmart and make it possible for healthcare providers to bring care directly to U.S. homes. The technology is complicated, but the idea is simple: a service that uses teleportation to get you what you need when you need it.

Through our technology, which includes robotics and autonomy, we are making delivery less carbon-intensive, reducing traffic on the roads, and cutting down on fossil fuel use and air pollution. We are also giving equal access to billions of people and making the global supply chain stronger.

Join Zipline and help us keep our promise to make the global supply chain more fair and stable for billions of people.

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU DO

Leads at Zipline are responsible for the work of their teams in a big way. You will be expected to get the most out of this output by doing well in the following areas: setting clear goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance, distributing work across your team, developing and nurturing your team’s talent, giving regular positive and negative feedback to your team, and coordinating with other teams and individuals across Zipline.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

for your team:

  • Set and share with your team ambitious goals and priorities that are in line with the goals of Zipline, the organization, and the country. Some of these goals will be local, while others will be directly linked to global metrics that we use to measure how well we serve our customers.
  • Call for help when your team needs it. If your team doesn’t have enough resources (people, tools, or skills), it won’t be able to reach certain goals. These gaps must be pointed out early and often.
  • Make sure that the work on your team is split up in a way that allows everyone to succeed, both as a group and as an individual. Leads shouldn’t be in charge of the most important parts of a project. Instead, they should find people on their team to take on projects. Leaders should not be afraid to put people in tough situations (i.e., giving people work that is slightly above their capacity).
  • Make sure your team’s work fits in with that of the teams around it.

For each member of your team:

  • Having to do with their work
  • Help each person set priorities for their work. Help your team set priorities for its work as a whole, including (most importantly) saying “no” and “backing off.”
  • You should get together with them often to find out if they’re on track to meet their work goals. If they aren’t on the right track, help them fix their work.
  • Having to do with how they grew
  • Find out what each person’s plans are for their long-term professional growth.
  • Make sure they have a plan for growth and are moving along that plan.
  • Tell people ahead of time when they aren’t meeting expectations or when they can push themselves to grow more.

  • Uses good judgment to figure out what decisions are important and what ones aren’t. A strong contributor to teamwork at the nest.
  • showing that they are good at mentoring and coaching
  • Shows critical thinking about what customers want and how they feel.
  • Strong at getting things done and good at managing people
  • A lot of experience managing stakeholders, thinking strategically and negotiating
