POSITION: WAF Customs Compliance Specialist

Join our team and play a critical role in maintaining customs compliance throughout the West African Area (WAF).
Key Responsibilities:
Management:
Provide technical advice on compliance concerns to shareholders in WAF nations.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Keep up to date with changes to customs legislation, regulations, and trade agreements.
- Understand the tariff classifications, valuation methodologies, duty rates, and local customs regulations and laws in WAF nations.
Risk Assessment:
- Conduct risk assessments to detect any potential compliance concerns.
- Create ways to mitigate risks associated with customs laws, duties, and taxes.
Internal audits:
- Conduct frequent audits of customs documentation and processes to guarantee their accuracy and compliance with corporate policies and external requirements.
Record keeping:
- Keep detailed records of all customs transactions, including documents, permits, licenses, and audit trails.
Investigation and Resolution:
- Investigate and efficiently address non-compliance or customs-related concerns.
- Consult with customs authorities and legal counsel as needed.
Training and education:
- Provide customs employees with training and advice to ensure that they understand and follow customs procedures and regulations.
Performance:
- Oversee WAF Customs Compliance Controls.
- Develop and maintain the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Internal Operating Procedures (IOPs).
- Implement and enforce global and local customs compliance standards.
- Manage the engagement of all Customs stakeholders in WAF.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews with regional governments.
Required skills:
- A passionate individual dedicated to Customs Compliance.
- Comfortable with change management and capable of providing high-quality engagement and collaboration.
- Enjoys cooperating with people from various teams and regions.
- Knowledge of shipping and customs is advantageous.
- A team player capable of managing stakeholders virtually.
