Job Description.

Background

SoCha is a MEL subcontractor for The Cadmus Group as part of the Feed the Future Ghana Trade and Investment (GTI) Activity, which is sponsored by USAID. GTI’s principal goal is to merge the ideas of enterprise-driven development and market systems development in Ghana, thereby increasing enterprise-level productivity and growth by enhancing the systems in which enterprises operate.

The GTI activity is built on five main objectives: 1) improving quality standards in domestic value chains, 2) reducing the time and cost of moving goods across borders, 3) encouraging increased investment, particularly among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), 4) pioneering distinctive and innovative ideas for additional programmatic interventions, and 5) expanding programmatic interventions and intensifying firm-level engagement.

Position Summary

SoCha is looking for a full-time, competent MEL Specialist to assist with the accompanying MEL services for the Feed the Future GTI Activity. The MEL Specialist is a member of the core GTI MEL activity team and reports to the MEL/CLA Director.

Key Responsibilities

The MEL Specialist will collaborate with the GTI MEL and GTI technical teams to:

  • Plan and manage implementation under the direction of the MEL/CLA Director.
  • Develop data gathering tools and include a reporting system into the adaptive program management cycle.
  • Support the day-to-day implementation of the Mission’s MEL and analytic task requests.
  • Coordinate specific task requests under the direction of the MEL/CLA Director.
  • Provide additional MEL technical help as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s or higher degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Five (5) years or more of M&E experience on donor projects, with CLA experience desirable.
  • Prior experience measuring the effect in the agriculture and trade industries is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience dealing with USAID or similar donors is preferred.
  • Prior experience working on Feed the Future activities is preferred.
  • Strong English skills.

The MEL Specialist should have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Performance monitoring entails creating plans to assess performance.
  • Creating and optimizing quantitative and qualitative metrics for international development initiatives.
  • Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation:
  • Coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Developing institutional capacity and memory.
  • Encouraging learning and sharing.
  • Relevant sector expertise:
  • Agricultural value chain.
  • Ghana’s trade and investment scene.
  • Enterprise-led development focuses on developing market systems.
