ROLE: Driver (Operations Support)
The logistical and Admin Team is part of the larger business systems and operations team, and its ultimate goal is to provide professional finance, administrative, logistical, and IT management services, as well as proactive and people-centered problem-solving solutions. This involves ensuring that the operational requirements of business services are properly managed in order to provide organizational results, which are focused on increasing the capacity and competence of partner organizations in order for Oxfam in Ghana to deliver on the Country Strategy.
Job Objective
The responsibility is to provide transportation support to the country office. Maintenance of office vehicles on time and maintaining a monthly reporting status on all office vehicles. Responsible for the management of gasoline and lubricant stocks. The following sections are intended to provide a clear understanding of the nature and scope of the Operations Support – Driver role:
- Carry out specific tasks as assigned by managers or supervisors.
- Tasks are routine, but they may necessitate some initiative and/or rudimentary planning.
- To be in charge of the proper operation of the vehicle under direct control.
- Perform tasks in accordance with health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- The impact is on the team/process.
Principal Responsibilities
- When possible, drive all staff on official rounds within and outside of Accra.
- Assist the Office Assistant in doing administrative errands such as the post office, utility bills, making various payments, and so on.
- Transporting business visitors from the airport to their hotels (or other destinations) and vice versa, where applicable.
Office car maintenance:
- Making certain that they are clean.
- Servicing on schedule to ensure they are always in good condition.
- Filling out and analyzing log books as part of monthly financial reporting.
- When necessary, check the correct amounts of fuel, water, lubricants, and so on.
- In the absence of the Administrative and Office Assistants, man the front desk.
- Assist with financial assignments as needed.
- Other auxiliary activities as given by the immediate supervisor or management
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCE ARE REQUIRED.
- Basic academic qualifications, as well as technical training in car repair, are required, as is a minimum of three years of exceptional driving skills.
- When on duty, demonstrate powerful defense techniques.
- Ability to write and speak clearly in English.
- The ability to recommend where to buy spares. Keep an eye on things and come up with templates for logbooks and monthly reports.
- Demonstrate some initiative and drive.
- Capable of carrying out directions.
- Personal duty is very strong.
- The ability to drive over great distances.
Desirable
- Experience working in a similar capacity for a development organization
- Working knowledge of French and Ghanaian is extremely desirable.
