POSITION: Director of Innovations & Impact

Company Profile

Lively Minds is an organization dedicated to providing quality early childhood development to millions of rural preschoolers in Ghana and Uganda by empowering parents. We combine our evidence-based ECD initiatives with innovative, robust implementation systems for rapid, cost-effective, and sustainable scaling.

Position Summary

Location: Preferably Ghana or Uganda. This position can be offered remotely for a candidate located in the GMT zone.

Overview 

You will oversee the directorate tasked with scalability solutions, program design, content, assessment, enhancement, and modification. You will oversee team leaders such as the Head of M&E, Content Manager, Expansion Manager, and Special Projects Manager. Your team will oversee and participate in various projects to achieve our strategic objectives, and you will offer guidance and supervision for these efforts.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

Programme Optimisation & Learning

  • Manage initiatives that explore methods to enhance impact, expand reach, create opportunities, and ensure sustainability by utilizing learning cycles and appropriately scaled lean pilots.
  • Examine methods to simplify and enhance content, processes, and systems to optimize replication and sustainability.
  • Work together with our Delivery Directorate to integrate the best solutions into everyday operations and establish efficient tracking and feedback mechanisms.
  • Manage, streamline, and enhance our real-time monitoring and evaluation system to guarantee that everyone can access the necessary data and analysis promptly to identify risks, opportunities, and trends, thereby influencing actions and decisions.
  • Make certain that Lively Minds operates as a learning organization based on evidence. Work closely with our Internal Operations division to guarantee that lessons learned and insights are communicated and integrated.
  • Collaborate with outside researchers on thorough assessments and sharing of results.
  • Keep updated on new research throughout the field and look for methods to integrate best practices into our efforts.
  • Evaluating scalable solutions, collaboration, adjustments for different settings, and integrations.
  • Assist in recognizing and evaluating innovative scale solutions to deliver effective community-led ECD to rural areas.
  • Assist the CEO in evaluating new opportunities and providing suggestions on which to pursue.
  • Assist in the advancement and growth of funding opportunities and collaborations, such as creating budgets, proposals, and project plans.
  • Work together with the Marcomms and Partnerships team to guarantee that data and research are showcased correctly and in the most impactful and engaging manner for the audience.

Team Management 

  • Direct the directorate by enhancing skills, inspiring, and overseeing the team while fostering a culture of ongoing learning, development, and exceptional performance.
  • Supervise and facilitate the advancement and growth of the Head of M&E, Content Manager, Special Projects Manager, and Expansion Manager.
  • Collaborate with coworkers from different departments to eliminate barriers, encourage teamwork, facilitate learning, and promote information exchange.
  • You might be given additional duties as agreed upon with your line manager, contributing to Lively Minds’ work while acknowledging your experience and skills. Consequently, it is anticipated that employees will be adaptable and eager to support the efforts of the broader team.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Become a proficient project manager: you possess senior leadership skills in the design, execution, and assessment of large-scale projects in at least one country in the global South, with a grasp of the practicalities and difficulties of execution.
  • Be proactive: we anticipate that all our leaders will dive in and lead by example. You will frequently be in the field and must cultivate a thorough understanding of the programme’s specifics.
  • Operate with speed and flexibility: We function in a demanding and ever-changing setting. We must act swiftly to seize opportunities and mitigate risks, while staying aligned with our strategic objectives and organizational principles.
  • Be a quick learner: we possess a complicated and multi-faceted model and operating system along with a diverse array of partners and stakeholders. You must swiftly grasp how the various components of our program and organization function, enabling you to enhance and develop what is already in place.

Crucial abilities 

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and managing innovation initiatives/programmes in (at least) one nation in the Global South and proficient in employing best practice tools in areas like planning, risk management, data gathering and analysis, and report generation.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects (i.e., delivering to countless communities) and performing evaluation and analysis across various data sets.
  • Experience in designing and managing data information systems and workflows.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and overseeing external evaluations, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a comparable leadership position overseeing cross-functional and multicultural teams.
  • Outstanding spoken and written English abilities.
